Aloha ALL,

Got home from HELL to find a box from Boker Germany!!! (Ya know, I love coming home to stuff like this!)

Anyway, I am kinda in awe right now...so for now, just some pics of what arrived...

DIREKT PE: Whoa. I gotta say, for a G10 steel lined folder, it is much lighter than I thought it would be. Liner lock is nested deep enough to not disengage when I held the DIREKT in hand opened and "twisted" it. Whew...this was one of my concerns when I found out it was a liner. The ala Carson Flipper is HUGE and this knife flips with authority! The flipper acts as a guard in the open position, and completes the Sub-Hilt design:

Holds well in forward and reverse grip:

I will not be using this one for the fact that I actually scored a DIREKT PE serial number 0001!!!

DIREKT Black...hmmmmmm, if this has three edges, is it a "3E" instead of CE?

Anyway, I will be beating the daylights outta this one, and will thoroughly enjoy testing my "MidWay Edge" concept. I already switched the clip to tip up, and need to place my Grip Strip on it.

EDIT FB: Wow. I love this lil' FB!!! Ligher than the SFB, and this one is also Ti-Coated in black! Love the fob, only thing is my sheath is a bit loose...damn. Gonna use this one with either a Tek-Lok or MercHarness. I just hope it satys put in neck or MercHarness mode.
Size comp with SFB:

Alrighty all, God bless and thank YOU!!!

Chad, do you know, what patience is... LOL!!!

Great you received our shipment and you like it!
Those Direkts are great, flat and low profile, leightweight and very secure to work with.

Thanks for your designs!

If there is anything else, just shoot me a mail!
Tobias

One word: Stabby! Can't wait to see how this one holds up.

Pretty Hefty !!

I'm intreaged with that Midway concept. Have to try that out.

Hey Tobias; good on you to give or man the number 0001:thumbup:;)

I bet you can slip that Edit sheathed in your RFP/LFP.

Looking Great!
:D

I really like the DIREKT PE.

DayWalker - I'm curious to know how well it holds up during heavy duty testing.

What kind of testing are you planning?

The flipper does seem to extend quite far, is there are purpose for that?

Thanks.

Finally pictures! This two sure do look awesome. Edit looks great. Very very nice indeed. But i have to say, Direkt looks amazingly good. I really really dig this one. Amazing. Congrats on another two great designs, Chad! And thanks for providing us with pictures.

Like the saying goes, all good things to those who wait. ;)

Nice pics Chad. The Direkt is one badass looking blade. The swedge grind really gives it the look of a clip point. Good idea to have the 4-way clip setup on that model too.

That pretty well covers it. :D Chad, that thing is sweeter than I ever imagined from seeing the concept drawings (larger too). I will definitely be picking up at least a couple of these when they're available. Outstanding!:thumbup:

Oh, and congrats on getting the 0001. Keep that baby safe and pristine and hand it down as a family heirloom.

Aloha topspeclt,

Welp...I am just as curious as you are regarding how well this DIREKT MWE (MidWay Edge) will hold up.

Testing consists of normal everyday chores, some SD cutting stuff, etc...Yes, the Flipper ala Carson does extend a bit further than most, and I suggest everyone who gets a DIREKT switch to tip up. Um, the extended flipper serves three purposes:

One, for the sake of why Mr. Carson developed it for, opening.

Two, to complete the Sub-Hilt "look", and added finger protection...

Three, well...check it out:

God bless and MAHALO MUCH EVERYONE!!!

Looking good, DW! I like the 3/4 DIREKT! Bet it'll be a crazy slicer! Liner lock, eh? Hmmmm.....

That new Edit is nice, too.....

Off topic, but what kind of gloves are those Chad? Looks like they have good feel and dexterity.

WOW, liking the Direkt. What are the specs on this knife, blade length.blade thickness, weight, overall length, and of course, ect. That liner lock bar looks like a thick piece of steel to me. Idea on it's thickness? One last question, does the Direkt have dual stainless liners?

Just walked in to store and saw ther new DIREKT(#38!!!) KeyCom is yet to be delivered. Picked up a Hyper (#30!!!)as well.

Direkt has an excellent overall design, ergo is good enough, the handle is too straight for my taste, could use more curves like the Trance (got spoiled by Ernie:jerkit:). Nontheless, there're some minor flaws IMHO. First of all - the plastic washer... again. IT"S OUTRAGEOUS:grumpy: Besides that, the liner was too snug, ans almost impossible to unlock when engaged (too new?) Moreover, the clip is a bit too thin for its size IMHO. The plastic used on the handle is different than those used on the SubCom/Trance/M-type series, it gives a rougher and more robust feeling, which is a good thing. Edge is sharp as any other Böker I got, so where it the shaving foam?:p The flipper is a great fun to use, functions adequately as semi-guard, and the sub-hilt provides more grip, thus more confidence for this knife wielding maniac.;)

Then the pain in my A -

DSC00137.jpg

This side of the blade is placed too close to the sub-hilt part, and causes a scratch while opening/closing. I'm not sure it's either only my copy of the blade or general flaw - TJT/Marketing, will you please shed some light on this, so I can decide whether to return the knife or not.

Good piece of steel, it's a shame it's not perfectly finished. Hopefully all flaws will be fixed in the 2nd run.

The Direkt is an amazing design set-up, between the serrations set-up and the flipper/hilt. I'm also liking this blade treatment they're using on the CLB line, I'd pay extra for a coated Subcom if it were plain-edge and held up better than the usual black coating. However, between blade length laws and my sudden thirst for small fixed blades, I need an Edit.
