DIREKT and EDIT FB in voggy Hilo!!!

The plastic used on the handle is different than those used on the SubCom/Trance/M-type series, it gives a rougher and more robust feeling, which is a good thing.

Man of Iron: I think you are a bit premature on this mature. Look closely some more on knives you JUST perchased imho.........

lol, maarten. I posted it like half an hour after I bought it :D After closer inspection, you're right bro. Some material, different textures/patrones. Moreover, it has come to my attention that the edge is semi-chisel - on the side with the CLB and Böker Plus logo it's sharpened at ab00t 40 degrees, while on the other side with the serial number it's sharpened at ab00t 20 degrees. It's sharp enough, but you can't shave with it... I've tried :D

Anyway, thx CLB, keep up the great work. Maybe you wanna distribute your blades amongst the inmates for "fieldtest" :p

He Man of Iron,

Could you give some thoughts:

Does the DiREKT has nytrolon washers?

How is the lock up compared to the M-Type/Trance/Hyper Subcom?

What do you think of the liner lock compared to the other frame locks on CLBs ?

And what is your talking about this semi chisel ; both Direkt and Edit should be flat grind like hyper subcom . My hyper subcoms MPT 's did come with a 30-40 degrees included microbevel soo no worries so far

I know i am precautious............ but till now i found no flukes on clbs......

How bout the EDIT...
:D

rectification;

Only Boeker any subcom trance MPT design handle material is zytel . Forgive me for mentioning it as plastic. Its far better then plastic...

Hyper M-Type Direkt all have G10 handle material ......

Sorry i got sloppy....

Washers:rolleyes:... nytrolon:confused:... both of them:grumpy:

Locks solid, especially compared to the Armed Forces I which I saw today. When "comparing" to the framelocks on the other CLBs, to be frank, you can't realy compare them - doesn't enage as smooth as other CLBs,(I miss the click sound) even the Trance/SubCom (one metal washer instead of both on Direkt) do better. However I dunno whether it's caused by the washers or because it's just because the defect on my copy (the blade is placed too closed to one side of the handle) makes the opening/closing of the blade difficult, and already caused a tiny bit of scratch... TJT/Marketing, shall I return it?

The liners hidden inside the handle are very light, and in combination with the plastic handle it gives the whole knife a light weight. Funny thing is the point of balance is located at the "index finger's place" when opened. Moreover, the lanyard hole is too small, a bit more than half in diameter compared to the lanyard holes on other CLBs.

Ab00t the grind: sorry for the confusion, the primary bevel is symmatric, but the secondary bevel/edge is semi-chisel (a bit like Emerson) - regular chisel would be 40/10~5, but the Direkt has angles of 40/20. The tip might seem pointy, but it's not, especially comparing to the Trance's factory needle point, which has become less pointy soon after I started using it. So it's actually a good compromise - pointy enough, yet not too pointy. It's clipped tip-up from the factory, four positions, two on each side.

Hopefully it's just defect on my copy, but the blade is placed too closed to one side of the handle, makes the opening/closing of the blade difficult, and already caused a tiny bit of scratch and taken off a bit of the coating... TJT/Marketing, shall I return it?:confused::confused:

Sorry bro, I didn't order the Edit, nor am I planning to purchase one in the near future, not even the SCF:foot:

Enfin, like I said earlier, the overall design is excellent, just lsome minor children's diseases which all can be healed.

PS I've also seen the Valkyrie, not dispointed, but I certainly expected more. Details of finish are good, but not enough to be awed. It's actualy single edged, unlike the sharpened false edge suggested by the picture.

it's cool bro, I got it wrong too. In my terminology: composite materials=plastic, a bit rash, but again, FRN/G-10/Zytel/Kraton, all plastic.

insomnia again?

Man of Iron: he hope my comin in direkt will be more to my expats. So far i had no defects on my CLB's....:jerkit:

thanks for the comparison pix ManofIron...if the G-10 is anything like that on the MType, I think i'm gonna like the Direkt.... that's too bad that one side is rubbing....a lemon :jerkit: ...hope u get it resolved....i still don't see the Direkt/Edit/Keycom available in the USA as yet :(

Off topic, but what kind of gloves are those Chad? Looks like they have good feel and dexterity.

LOL!!!

Yo motoGP bro,

Ahhhh, they're some kinda "generic" shooting gloves I got from the local here...my Kevlar lined ones got thrashed awhile back...

God bless and who's leading in points???:D

Aloha MOI,

Hey sorry about your DIREKT...I would definitely return it as it is obvious that your blade is NOT centered. My DIREKT ME makes that, "CLACK!!!" sound when opened, and is perfectly centered. The tip on my "DME" is also pointy and even...

Odd how yours arrived..."tip UP???" Mine came tip down.

What is going on here???

Anyway, hope you can work this out with Boker...and I do apologize for your "DPE"...:(

God bless and keep us posted please.

Rossi, he's looking pretty strong right about now. Can't ever write off a 5-time world champion. Also helps that the Ducati isn't blowing the doors off everyone like it was last year.

Mahalo bro,

Hmmmmmm, Valentino, eh? Ho man, I am gonna get scolded here for going OT, but...whatever happened to Luca Cadalora??? When he switched over to Yamaha when he started riding 500's after doing so well on the Rothman's Honda I was !!!

Um...oh yeah...er, on topic...um...my EDIT and DME are...uh...sharp!!! Kinda like the chicane (sp?) on that track in...:foot:

God bless bro and thanks!

Thanks bro. Sorry for the confusions... again. First of all, I was no good in recognizing the Differences bewteen the M-type and Hyper.:p Second of all, my Direkt did arrive in "tip-up", my bad.

Anyways, I've returned the knife this morning, and ordered the Edit and Rampage along with it, expecting them in 2 weeks. Wouldn't mind if Böker tries to make up with me by sending me a CLB cap. Wish me luck.

PS still don't know how the heck my Hyper SE was serialized #30???!!!:o The PE next to it had a serial of 500-ish. Hopefully I'll get a low serial Direkt. *sighs*

Aloha MOI,

Good on you bro! I am certain that Boker will do what is right. However, your bad again my friend...you still said your DIREKT came "tip up"!!!:p You must have a job like mine...:D

Ahhhh, the CLB DESIGN cap...not from Boker, but I will start carrying them soon.;)

The serial number thing I don't get either...some batches are super low, others are like, "Wha? #1289???" :p It's all good though...I wanna see these numbers hit #2000...then #3000, then...;)

God bless and mahalo for your support and do take some time off work.:D

do take some time off work

I did go home from work after just 2 hours, was feeling terribly misserable. Then I hit the local weaponstore (not literally:eek::p), returned the defected copy, went home and kept on saying things like "tip-up":D

Moreover it has come to my attention that the liner of the Direkt is quite difficult to reach, because the handle was way too symmetric... It would have been easier if it had a curve around the liner... Merely a suggestion.

Alas, still a long way to go completing the CLB all black collection... besides that, I would love to be wielding one Lava in each hand:D

Aloha MOI,

Cripes, I was only kidding about "taking time off work"! Hope you're feeling better...

Anyway, "false" for me...regarding the "difficulty" reaching the liner lock with or without gloves. In fact, I just was wearing gloves and using my DIREKT ME with no problems opening and closing it. Besides, I was never interested in how "fast" I could close a knife! LOL!!!

Ahhhh, my poor Lava...so underestimated and not enough press is "killing it"...

God bless and keep us posted MOI!

Last I head of Caladora was on Kenny Roberts' privateer team in 2000. I don't know if he raced anywhere after that, GP or otherwise. I've seen clips of him in videos against Doohan and Rainey. He was a heck of a talented rider and put up a strong fight with equipment that was sometimes lacking against the works riders in the 500 class.

And if you need to tie it back to knives, just say that the (insert knife model name here) is as sharp as the Corkscrew at Laguna Seca. Yeah, that'll work. :D

Speaking of knives, I've got an M-Type on the way. Very excited to try it out.
