if its for teenagers , and they are at all inclined to understand what you re doing / giving them , get them moras .
if nothing else theyll respect the knives , and you , more , simply because they see youre not giving them lesser quality gear , but the same stuff youre using . that alone goes a long long way at times .
at least its worked this way with my teens anyway .
If the kit was for yourself , its not biggie to stick a cheap knife in it now so you have one and upgrade it later If you have to use it, you know whats going on .. if its for other people , you cannot count on them doing that ... give them good enough gear that youll not ever regret spending more $ on a beer than you did on that knife that coulda been key to saving a life .
OTOH dont fall for the marketing spiel about the knife you trust your life to ... gear covers for lack of know how only so far .. hands on time with your kids and their kits is something you cannot replace with anything .
