Obviously swaping scales is not a problem - but am curious about the construction of the back of this knife - appears to be a couple of press fit pins hold all 5 layers together? Anybody substituted something a bit lighter for the two middle layers?These things truelly are just over the top in terms of strength.They're heavy - but it's all muscle.Hands down the most ruggedly built production knife I have owned.

I have only removed and swapped scales. You should note that the wood scaled Alpha folders have a metal spacer (or Bushing) attached to the frame under the scale. The rubber version had no need for the spacer and the rubber scale is screwed directly to the frame. Just an FYI for you....I did not attempt to remove them....tampering with your knife could void your warranty.
