Disappearing posts

I had one disappear a little while ago and another a few days back. When it says, "You will now be returned to your post" it returns me...but to another post, not the one I just finished. Very odd.

Since the advent of the new software, everytime I have tried to post I have been told that I am NOT logged in when I clicked "Submit Reply", eventhough I know I was. So I log in again and then hit the "Back" button on my browser to get back to my post and submit it again. It has always worked but it's a real pain in the neck. :rolleyes:

This afternoon however I logged in and then proceeded to my usual spots. I typed out my post (it even said that I was logged in at the top of the reply form - just like it does on the one I'm typing right now) :rolleyes: , but when I clicked on "Submit Reply" I was told that I was NOT logged in, so I my little dance again but this time my post was gone! :mad:

It seems to me that when I "log in", that I should stay logged in until I "log out" or exit the BFC site, but it does not seem to work this way. Can anyone fill me in on what the deal is? :confused:

P.S. It happened again on this post! :mad: Fortunately my little dance worked this time. :rolleyes:
 
Do you have your cookies turned on? If not, logging in will not work.

*sigh*. Ok, what browser and OS are you using? Do you have the specific thread that you were trying to post to?

Are you sure you didn't hit the preview reply button, (a new feature), instead of the Submit post button?

I'm using IE 5.5 and Windows 95 at work, though we're getting ready to upgrade to Windows 2000. At home it's Windows 98 and IE (can't remember the version but it's pretty new). I've been on BFC mostly from work though because that's where I spend most of my time lately.

I have been very careful not to hit the "Preview" key. Besides, that would cause me to get the message that I wasn't logged in ... would it?

It's wierd, but the last few posts have worked with no problems ... eventhough I haven't changed anything. Let's just wait and see if it continues to work. I know you have lots to do.

I have Win95 and use either Netscape or Opera in conjuntion with WebWasher. I am using Opera and WebWasher as I type. As WebWasher and Opera both have cookie managers, I expected some problems. I DO have to log in each time I visit BF, but don't usually have problems posting. I have not changed any settings since the software change.

The odd thing is, I can post a couple times or more just fine, then suddenly a post will disappear. I think I have made 4 posts so far today...with no problems.

I know that this is a difficult problem, anything intermittant is, but I thought you should know. Perhaps Dave can chime in with similarities?

As far as I am concerned you have far greater problems to worry about, though a couple of my longer posts went up in smoke, I am sure no one will be endangered as a result. :)

Point me to the threads that this is happening in, if you don't mind. Until we can track it down, I'd suggest composing your posts in another program and saving them.

The one I lost so far tonight was in 'general', Blade disc, "Bye Everyone". Very popular tonight it seems. :)

I posted there once and the second one went 'poof'. I was also successful posting elsewhere, including here.

"Hey! What's that smoke coming out of your ears!"

Again, a minor prob that you can sort out later. Just keep most folk going!
