Just received my new cds celtibero mv 58 knife with micarta handles and this thing is beautiful. The sheath is awesome.
But I unboxed it and to my surprise there was a small indentation on the blade. It was also very dull and I thought no problem I can sharpen it. But upon closer inspection I noticed that the grinding was all messed up. Flat on one side and an uneven edge in the other side. WTH?
Anyway its going back to the dealer for a refund.
What I want advice on is should I order another one and just hope it doesn't have quality issues or just go with another knife completely.
I want a good all around camp knife for batoning, chopping, and some bushcrafting. My budget is $250.00
What do y'all think?
Btw I'll post an ad pic of the knife. My camera can't capture the issues I found in mine.
Thanks
Andy

I've never heard of that company, if it were me I'd just go for a more known commodity, like ESEE, Becker, Survive!, Lionsteel, Tops, Fallkniven, or something from the custom market forum here.

This.

Though I am an unabashed Becker fan, any of those mentioned would serve you well.

A few others to consider at your price point...

Enzo
Swamp Rat
LT Wright
Battle Horse

One thing to mention is that chopping/battoning knives tend to be larger than "bushcraft" knives. So trying to find a knife that does everything may leave you with a knife of compromises (which may not be bad depending on what you want).

Typically I want a blade of at least 8-9in for chopping. These size knives are also good at batoning. Bushcraft knives tend to be 3.5-4.5in or so, and usually thinner.

That would leave the 5-7in range as the "all arounders". And in that size range, id look at the ESEE 6, or the Becker bk12. Personally id take the bk12, as I like the Becker handle design, and dislike choils. Both are about half your budget.

Good luck finding something you like :).

Thanks guys
Gonna look really hard at that bk12 and esee 6.
And I'll probably have enough leftover for a spyderco folder.
