Disappointed

I reccomend you get yourself a good victorinox, the larger 111mm series has locking blades, and will go a long time before you need to sharpen.
Jacknife is right about a blade not having to be shaving sharp, opinels and vics have full flat grinds on thin stock, so they are gong to zip through most things for a good while, espically if they have the shoulder rounded off them.

The best edge I maintain - on my Case folders - is 20 degree initial grind with a 25 degree 1/2 grind. I hope that makes sense. I whittled a LOT off an oak stave the other day and then popped hair. It wasn't really confortable shaving - but sharp nonetheless.

It could be your edge.
