I got a used buck nxt today, i need to open it to clean out some stuff in the pivot area. Any idea how to do that? It appears that you can remove the pivot pin and take out the blade. the handle can not be seperated as it rivited

You can use a punch to push the pivot pin out of your Buck. if you are talking about a 110 or 112. Just tap it out. Before you do that you may want to try giving it a good bath with warm soapy water or blowing it out with something like WD40 or brake clean in a pressurerized can. Then just let it dry out. You could used an air hose or some of the keyborad air that comes in a can. After all that give it s small drop of lube in the pivot area. Not really necessary to take it apart Just work the blade back and forth while using cleaning solution of your choice. A small brush like comes with electric shavers works great or even an old toothbrush.

OK, you can use a neddle nose plier to unscrew that pirvot assy. Just place one side each of the pliers in the indented area of the screw and you should be abble to remove it. Even better a spanner wrench of the correct size will work great. If I were you and did not wont to bugger up the pivot screw I would just give it a good bath with a brush, dry it out, and give it just a little lube. Go lite on the lube as a little goes a long way.

i already buggered up that screw, i guess mabey a soak in simple green then rinse and blow it out. Its going to be used as a beater as i got a great deal on it and it will save some of the better knives
