Disassemble for airline travel

I have always put my Sebenza in my socks and then in my shoes never had a problem. Here is one I heard and may sound funny but I bet it would work. Take a pair of underwear, wrap you knife in them the rub peanut butter on the outside of the underwear. Put all of that in a zip lock bag and in your luggage. I know I would not open it to look if I was inspecting. :-) Just a thought.

Without a doubt, do this!

Great ideas guys! I put each of my CRK's in a sock and then put them all in a ziploc bag. Wrapped that in a t-shirt and never had any problems. I don't know how I luck out but I get the notice in my checked bags every time I fly, knife or no knife.

I have removed the blade of a wood inlay Sebenza and carried the handle with washers and pivot in my carry on. They flagged it during screening but after inspecting the handle and seeing there was no blade there was no problem. I figure the blade is a lot less expensive to replace than the handle (or whole knife).

What I have done lately is put it inside a a GunVault NanoVault (locked hard sided case) with my Ruger LCR (NV 100 works well for this). I use the steel cable to connect it to my suit case frame. If they use bolt cutters to cut the cable they can take the hard case, but it would take a little work.

I seem to see that notice from TSA most of the time. Maybe it is because I am checking a firearm most of the times I travel.

This is what i did and everything worked out. I put my micarta 25 in one and my TSF Gorgon in the other.
Thank you to everyone for the tips and ideas.
Once I get settled my Micarta 25 and I will begin exploring and experiencing Alaska.
