Would be great to see several different folders posted in this thread if some of you other guys got the inclination. It's nice to see what the folders look like on the inside and give you a feel for the fit and finish that matters the most.

First one is Cold Steel Large Voyager - Vaquero

I was surprised by how tight the Voyager is all around, the 4 washers, and uniform screws with loctite. Even without any screws in place it is still very solid. Only $38!

In the next photo with screws removed and grivory slab left off, it still has 100% perfect lock-up with absolutely zero blade-play

Beefy pivot bushing and thumb stud

Sorry for the rambunctious flash and bad lightning - had to finish up the fluff, buff, and photos before the 1 year old twins woke up.

Thanks for the info, I have a (new ) clip point and I like it. But your recurved blade looks wicked, I'll buy one, for sure :)

I plan to get the Clip Point and Tanto also when I have the money - right now it's all food and diapers...

It's been a while since I took a folder all the way down to look it over and give it some love, had to grab a $6 set of mini screwdriver bits at Walmart.

Started out with the Vaquero so I could evaluate how the blade shape does doing little martial arts experiments in the back-yard. So far I like it a lot.

If I can find some of the other folders that made it here I'm going to break'em down and post them up also.

This isn't my photo and I can't remember where I got it but it is a good shot of a disassembled Grip.

And I just finished a disassembly, deep clean and reassembly of my HEST/F 2.0 3 days ago! Next time I guess ;)

OrdnanceBubba, how thick do you reckon those liners are? I read that they are T6061 aluminum, must be pretty light!

They don't even seem like aluminum to me, I think because of the thickness...rushed and forgot to compare it to the blade before putting it back together. The grivory slabs are basically just a textured cover for the liners - they are very thin. I think it's even stronger now than I did before breaking it down - it's beefy for sure.

Adding this to the knife assembly/disassembly resource thread.

Good to know! Look like a few mm thick from the pictures you posted.. maybe 2 or 3

Thanks for doing the disassembly

Is that Voyager the Medium or Large size?

*Edit* I just looked at the numbers on the Cold Steel site. Seems to be the Large. You got it for $38?!?! Nice!!

Shooter you guessed right brother, it's a Large Voyager. Edited the first post and added it to the text now.

seelow, thanks for adding those, especially the PPT :) Took me a few seconds to realize why the Shallot had different size washers :o

Whitty, that's an awesome addition - thanks bro.

Trying to figure out how to edit the title of the thread to read "Disassembled Folders - Voyager, Griptilian, PPT, etc."

Should be editing your first post & there would be an option to edit title. At least that's what I got from many other forum engine. Not sure about BF though.

Thanks everyone for sharing!

Thanks Chris, I gave it a try and still didn't see the option for it. Maybe a Mod will be browsing the thread and hook me up. Would be great if people do a google search on a folder they are considering bump into the thread and get to see the internals.

lol....with people adding all these pictures of various knives, I'd better update the links.

Here's the assembly/disassembly resource thread I started a while ago: Internal Link (Bladeforums.com)
