Hey guys frist time posting so not sure if im in right place or not so ill just ask lol .
Well i bought my frist disc sander a few weeks ago from H.F yeah i know ima cheap ass but hey seems to work .
I bougjt it for doing dovetails n sucb on my bolsters. Well i seem to have an issue geting totaly falt grinds ..ill bump the scale up to the miter gauge n push into the disc..while it grinds it at a flat 90 i seem to have an issue with keeping the edge straight ..is this just a pressure issue ill have to learn to use correctly or is there something i can do to make sure it stays straight

I've heard those discs are pretty flimsy. Maybe it's flexing when you put pressure on it?

Any way to check and see if its flexing? It seemd the frist few times it worked perfectly , now im sanding it at a slight angle ..the 90s flat tho lol

I'm not well versed on grinding but ran into this issue in multiple ways while grinding the few knives I have. Is everything square to the grinder, are you holding the blade too long in one place, are you pushing hard on a flexible blade causing it to flex into the grinder? These are some issues I ran into.

I only use and plan on useing it for scales bud. Thats what ive been trying to do is keep everything flush .. Ill push scale uo agasint the miter guage n then into the sander

Draw a line across the bolster and grind to that line.

Also check your miter guage is actually 90 degrees to your disc

I appreciate it guys , ill deffenetly be trying drawing a line on bolster . i checkd my guagr and it seems to be correct
