disc sander set-up?

i am going to build a 9inch disc sander. my problem is what set-upwould be the most useful?and what is the easiest way to build it? do you have any pics of it? thanks a bunch....willy

there are quite a few threads going already on disc sanders if you look around. i just went back about 4 pages and seen at least 5threads. i have picks posted of my disc sander setup at my website.

I like mine set up horizontal. It seems easier to flatten the bevels that way (at least to me). 3/4HP is a minimum for the power. Reversable is good, variable speed is even better.

I would recommend going with a 3phase motor and VFD. I have some 1hp 3ph I am passing on (my cost) in the for sale area. this is what I use. I do all my grinding with a disc.
