Aloha ALL,

Been awhile, hope everyone has been doing great. Me? Busy with a lot of things like trying to spend time with my family, caring for our Furkidz, fine tuning some knife designs, testing a few as well, standing in the rain for hours with an AR15/REM870 during a possible riot at the airport, twisting up inmates...the "usual".

Cripes.

ANYWAY, showing my age a bit with the thread title, but I am not referring to the dance craze of the 70's. I am talking 'bout discontinued models of mine from the Boker Plus line. Disco'd models for 2009 are:

Trance Drop Point: Why that is, I have no idea...know tons of folks who like that wide blade...but then again, there are those who love the original blade shape of the first Trance. At any rate, I did not see this one coming. The Trance Drop Point is however, still kinda popular in Europe though, but in the US...they'll soon be gone.

Original RESCOM Folder: Ahhhhhh...this one I kinda thought so. Once the all Black Rescom and Red Rescom hit the line, the Original black scale, bead blasted bladed version's days got numbered. Still a solid and proven concept...especially the other night when I had to cut Flex Cuffs off a ton of inmates!

Desert Subcom CE: AAAArrrrRRrrrRrRgh! This was one of my favorite beater knives!!! The color is nice, and a good change of pace from the "typical" black scale affair. I do think however, that this scale color with a PE, would have still been in the line up. Shoot, make that PE with a black blade for that matter! I am gonna miss seeing this one though.

MPT Black CE and MPT PE:
The PE version got a great review in Tactical Knives magazine. The MPT Black IMHO, has the smoothest cutting serrations I ever used. In fact, so much so, that I am pretty certain I asked Boker to use this exact pattern size on all my CE variants! I call them, "Scare-Ations"...Anyway, the handle was NOT supposed to have been ribbed, but it proved functional. My MPT PE I still carry and use in the yard on a Mercharness. I will miss seeing these guys also, BUT it does open the door for my MPD with a Kydex sheath and G10 handle scales. We'll see.

M-TYPE Black CE: So did not see this one coming!!! If this one had the SE pattern like the MPT Black, might still be in the line. I just...ahhhh...I dunno. IIRC, this one was just featued with some other knives in American Handgunner magazine!

HYPER Black CE:
Rinse and repeat pretty much what I said about the M-TYPE Black CE...although this one was not in said magazine.

I realize that every model has a certain "life span" in the industry, and all the disco'd models are survived by some variant. Well, all except the MPT's. I just wanted to shout out a BIG MAHALO MUCH to those who own these models, use them, or merely showed an interest in them. Last but not least, mahalo much to Boker for making these designs a reality.

God bless and thanks everyone.

Bugger! The MPT's going? Damn, might have to get a replacement...

Multi-Purpose... Drop point? I suppose you can't say more?

I wonder why they disco the DP trance as it is a relative young design.

In general people prefer PE over CE i think, which may cause the disco of these bladestyle on knifetypes. Economic Crisis may cause sales going down somewhat.

Is that a droppoint MPD, chad?
Will it have a recurve like on the original MPT one?

We know you keep up with great designs :D. Still sorry for this. There are a lot of less quality magnum knives i would rather ditch...

G4 should be out soon i guess...

I don't understand dropping the Trance. :thumbdn:

As for the others, I love the designs, I just always get plain edge stuff. I've never owned a fully serrated knife and own a few combo edges but I don't need them for 99% of my EDC tasks. I understand others might want it.

Ya need a Mini-Trance with a 2.25 inch blade.

Man, I always wanted an MPT but hadn't gotten around to getting one yet. Guess it's now or never. :(

Onya bro!

Yeah...MPT's are going. I am wondering if anyone has a MPT Black CE with "CLB Designs" on it, as opposed to the initial run which read, "CLB KNIVES"...

Er...as for the MPD...:foot:

God bless bro, and "no worries"!!!;)

Bummer.... Really gonna miss the drop point blade on the Trance....

Yo Master Molester,

Yeah...I like the fat DPT blade. Odd because I was told sales in the US were not so good, that's why Germany will still sell it in Europe, but no more incoming to the USA IIRC...

Regardless, just keep them magic scales coming bro!
God bless and THANK YOU!!!:D

keep the new designs coming. we still love you!

:o...

I'll try chocochoco...I'll try. But as Yoda would say, "Try NOT! DO...or do not. There is NO "try".;)

(Easy for him to say...he never designed knives, AND had 860 years more experience in life than I do!)

God bless!

Hey Chad---You can't go wrong! ;)

Yo Lycosa!

Good to see you, and thanks for your level of confidence!:o However, I think I already DID go wrong...I chose Corrections as a career!:thumbdn:

Naw, but I am blessed in that I have a job, AND I still got a few designs going strong!;)

God bless and take care!

Alohallo Maarten,

GREAT to see you here!

Ah, like I mentioned, the DPT sales were not good in the USA...but in Europe, it is still "okay" I guess.

MPD...the original has a VERY slight...:foot:

Yeah bro, I look at some of the Magnum line, and am like, "Why can't they put THAT G10 or Micarta on some of my stuff???"

I hope the G4 will be out soon...I can't wait for the "actual version" since the grind is MUCH higher than the proto I got.;) It's a big handled folder though...ya ever hold a broom handle Luger?:D

God bless ya sir, and keep in touch!

Carry my Subcoms all the time and have been meaning to pick up the desert. Guess I better hurry it up.

Hey gazz98,

Understand on the PE...and Boker is not dropping the Trance, only the DPT variant, and only in the USA.:(

As for that Mini-Trance..."been there, done that." Only a matter if Boker decides to build it.;)

God bless and thanks again for starting that bday thread!:o
