Discontinued knives, what gives?

Oh ok!
Hm... I might pick up one. I'll fire an email off to you.

I was perfectly happy with the G10 Navigator as it is/was. If we could have anything, a flat ground VG10 PE with Carbon Fibre version would be very very nice.

I never understood why the G-10 Navagator was discontinued. I'm not privy to Mr. Glesser's balance sheets & production details, but I'm certain there were reasons. I'd love to see one in VG-10 or some other "premium" blade steel. As for scale material, you just can't beat the G-10. For a small knife you need some "Gription"* and the G-10 is head & shoulders above Almite for that. Carbon fibre would be visually nice, but again, I like a small knife to nest well in the hand.

*(pronounced "GRIP-shun"- Grip & Traction- a favorite made-up word from childhood)

Alot is personal opinion in my reply.
I for 1 love the smaller knives by Spydie, so much so that I just traded for 2 more Almite Navigators after toting around the 1 I got from Jeff.
Its light, super sharp and fits my hand well and Almite is some damn tough stuff.
I have 1 in G-10 that was a gift and means more to me than the others and I carry it with me all the time, along with the Dragonfly SS also a gift.
I tend to carry more than 3-4 at a time, 1 usually is a Lg folder such as my new Millie, the others are all small and concealed dropped in a pocket.
Here in S.C. we don't have strict laws concerning blade length etc, but I do agree sometimes it isn't socially acceptable to snap out a 4 + inch blade to cut an apple, am I glad it's there should I need it as a deterent? ofcourse!
I too lament some of the discontinued models.
G-10 Rookie :( possibly my favorite of all time
Calypso jr-have 2 never goin anywhere.
I can also understand the bottom line in running a Co such as Spyderco, if it slows down selling they have to move forward or be left behind.
The evolution of the Delica IMO pleases me personally VG-10 sabre grind
:) I'll also be the odd fella here that likes the Meerkat, I tried not to BTW till I saw how it fills my hand better, same with the Lil Temp.
On my wish list is a G-10 full SS liner VG-10 Delica/Endura full flat grind  would it be cost effective to make? doubt it, but i'd buy a few. Ron

I never got to see the Calypso Jr.... although I've heard lots of good things about it.
I couldn't buy more Spydies, I need to pay my sister back for the cell phone bills, and then I need to get a couple of fixed blade first. But I must admit that I like Spyderco's G10. They're always so much gripper than other brand's offerings. The Starmate/Military/Chinook is the grippiest G10 I've seen.
