Discontinued Spydies for 2020

The Opus looks nice - very sleek and ergonomic. I just have zero need for another black G10 / s30v blade, even if it is a nice design.

And I have zero need for another knife at all. Period! :D

I’ve gotten very picky recently myself. Guess that’s why the’ve been in my cart but not my pocket.

I was kinda hopping to grab a Spyderco fixed blade off the list...something a bit bigger than the Junction. I guess I’ll keep waiting. :)

EDIT: <<I caved and bought a Junction in post #34>>

I have not paid much attention to Spyderco Magnitude untill yesterday. The more I look at its pictures and videos the more I am drawn to it. Anyone has owned this knife for an extended period of time? How do you like or dislike it?

I hear you and agree! Price drops had me looking closely at it again. My two hold backs are the thickness of the knife in pocket, and steel choice (s30v). I like tool steels, but as for stainless I’d prob buy one if it were cts xhp, rwl-34, Elmax, cts-b70p, m390, 20cv, 204p or even s90v. Looks like a very well built knife though!

Last night, I got my Advocate. Date code, on my Advocate: "AR"

So, being that that's a production date of January 2018, that would mean it's the CQI version, right?

Had I known about the AR date code, I would have bought more than one. Would have been nice to have two - oh well!

Same thought here. The blade is also a bit thicker than I prefer. The CF looks really good though.

C07GP4 - Police 4 G-10??? I'm actually pretty sad about this. I really like my Police 3, and the 4 seems like the ultimate!

None of the D/C stuff gets me super excited, including the prices. I have bought a bunch of Spydees this year. The madness has got to stop.

"Nothing's over, until we decide it is! Was it over, when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?"

ETA: Speaking of the "madness," I grabbed a Mantra 2 and a Gayle Bradley Junction. Actually, I bought a Junction for my dumb-son, as well. I figure it would be a nice Christmas gift, for an 18 year old, dummy. At $100.00, who could resist? Well, not me! :D

At a buck 19/20, the Mantra's a "swanky" deal, in my humble opinion. Swanky's such a groovy word, huh? :p:D

I'm really kicking myself, for not grabbing two Advocates! But, the Magnitude's a very posh knife, from what I can see - it came today. I don't think I'll ever carry it, though. :(

Ordered a P4 today. It bumped the Native Chief off my list for a little while.

Seeing models get discontinued is never fun, but is there any you guys feel indifferent to? Personally for me it's the Squarehead

Ok. I caved and bought a Junction anyway, even though I already have that niche covered.

I couldn’t break with tradition and refuse to grab something at the disco sale.

Last time I did that was 2016 and I really regret it.

I am hesitating. Really want to pull the trigger on Junction but just am not sure if it is a bit too short. I believe the overall length of it is about the same as PM2, though the blade is longer (a bit over 4").

I just received one ordered from KC. At just a nickel under 100$ was a no brainer for me, because my only other fixed blades are all CPKs ranging in 3 times the price and up! I needed something cheap to beat on in the kitchen and not care much if someone else also uses it. That said, only at this price point though and had I paid 200 for this like they used to be, or the price on BHQ, I'd be p*ssed! The handle scales are so thin that they are almost not there! And also that G10 is as smooth as a baby's bottom. If you are looking for a serious camping knife, look elsewhere but if someone like me, it still fills a niche :)

Ouch! Seriously! You’re posting this 20 minutes after I received my shipping notification from KC!?!?

Hahaha. It’s all good. Curiosity and price won me over. I know it’s going to be thin. It will probably be a gateway into other Spyderco fixed blades (and I hope to get in on one of Nathan’s runs at some point too). :)

Keep an eye on Nathan's forum for 2020, if you like 'em thinner and more slicey. He's embarking on doing his take on a Kephart :)

I'll snag more Spydie fixed for kitchen and things if / when they hit rock bottom sale pricing. The serrated one on KC ain't looking half bad either ;)

I would have bought an Advocate a LONG time ago at that price. SCORE!!!

edit:

Yeah.... Microtech came today. Advocate will be here before Friday. Now I need to explain how I didn't violate the one knife a week "rule". Awesome!

I almost bought the advocate but it was a gen 1 so didn't, almost lost $150

The Advocate sans flipper and with an MXG deep carry clip is one sweet knife. I picked up this one and a spare. Got a Police in K390 on the way as well!
