I have the Cold Steel Trench Hawk. I like it, and think it's just about perfect for what it is. The Brain, you're exactly right about the spike on some hawks though. The one on this one scared the hell out of me too. I started chopping with it, and that spike was coming very close to either my head, or my shoulder. I could see that if I ever did have to use it for defense, in the frenzy of combat, I didn't want it to put ME out of action, instead of the bad guy. So I cut it back. It still functions as a spike. To some extent anyway. Now it's a lot more user friendly.
