How stupid do I feel?:o

I already KNEW he had bad service and I usually don't buy from him, but he had something in his catalog I couldn't find anywhere else. A Marbles Special Hunter with jigged buffalo handle.

I placed my order and got a confirmation from him the next day.
THREE WEEKS LATER, when it hadn't arrived, I wrote him to find out what was up. No reply.:(

I waited another week and wrote him again. No answer.

I checked out my credit card and found out it had never been billed, so I didn't get robbed. But STILL! How bad of a business man can you be? Is this guy running his business out of the back bedroom of his house or what?:barf: :barf: :barf:

Now a few weeks down the road, you will have forgotten all about this, it's late, raining, and your on a country road approaching Empty on your gas tank, your broke till payday, thank god you have a credit card, You pull into the gas station to fill up, WHAT??? Credit Card denied??? And a week later your knife will be sitting at your doorstep :D

Fortunately, my knife habit isn't THAT bad. Plenty of room for error.

The worst thing is that I still WANT that knife for THAT price! ($97)

I had the same problem with Discount Knives a couple years ago, sorry to hear he has not changed his policies.

In my case I ordered two knives from him for birthday presents. Got the confirmation, but no knives. After three - four emails begging him just to tell me what the status was, with no reply whatsoever, I eventually cancelled the order and placed it somewhere else. Another dealer was kind enough to expedite the order to get it in time for my kids' birthday. (Yeah, twins, two exact knives).

I swore I'd never deal with Discount Knives again. I'd rather pay a little more and be treated with a modicum of respect.

Well at least he doesn't process your charge on your card AND then ignore you. I had the same thing happen but ended up just chalking it off to his loss. Has anyone ever received anything from this guy?

I've done business with Brian only once at the beginning of this year. While my transaction did finally go through, it wasn't completely painless. I ordered my BM43 from him and waited a couple of weeks without receiving my knife. When I emailed him about it, I was told that they had a server crash on the day that I ordered and was told that I should re-submit my order. I did re-submit and got the knife shortly thereafter. Since then I have seen way too many threads on them here in the Good, Bad, and Ugly and have pretty much avoided doing anymore business there. While I did receive my knife, I have found way too many better dealers here to risk it (e.g. New Graham, 2thehilt, etc.).

Over the last couple of years I have placed several orders with Brian and have had no problems, except one time and I'm not sure who transposed two numbers in the zip code, but that was what caused a delivery problem. I emailed him to see why I hadn't received the order and he emailed me back saying it was shipped. I happened to notice that the address he had shipped it to had the zip code wrong. It was taken care of in a timely manner.
I have been told that this is a one man, part time operation, and that he is always snowed under.

I've made 7 transactions with Brian.

6 went without a hitch.

The 7th order was like yours fulloflead. . . Order processed but never received what I ordered. And, my card wasn't charged.

Ohhhhhhh. . .well. I got slightly ticked but I'm not mad.

Here's my philosophy. . .

"Provide me what I ask for, get it to me in a timely manner and have it arrive (to me) in new condition. Those who do get my continual business and support.

If not. . .there are plenty of makers, dealers and service providers out there."

Ain't hindsight a &@#$% ! < - - - insert B word here. . .

;)

Be glad that your card wasn't charged and left with large pile of steamin' ka-ka in your hand !

My opinion. . ."chalk it up to experience and move on." :)

At least your cards weren't charged! My Spyderco Lil Temperance never arrived, but DiscountKnives.com still charged me. I had to dispute the charge with my credit card company to get my money back.

Are you asking me, Maggie D.? If so, the answer is no. If I had eventually received the knife, I would have sent it back to DiscountKnives at my expense. It took two months to get my money back. I didn't want the knife any more by that point.
