Discount Knives is crap. Awful.

Nov. 17 I ordered a plain edge Progrip from them because I am knifeless and in desperate need of an EDC.

Nothing. Not for a week.

11 days later I get a partially serrated Progrip in the mail. I send it back, request for an exchange.

Nothing. Not for a week. It's been a day shy of two weeks, nothing.

Please do me a favor and do NOT do business with discountknives.com. Saving the few dollars that they offer is not worth the runaround they will give you. Brian takes his time in responding to emails.

And please do a quick search for discountknives. This forum is chock full of other people who are pretty irate with them as well.

I just checked my credit card statement via telephone. They credited my dough back to my account now. I guess I won't be getting my progrip from them at all.

All well. Could have been a lot worse.

I have ordered a knife from Brian,
had no problems and a quick delivery time.

Perhaps he didn't have the knife you order , and sent you
the one in stock,
when you talked to him he credited your account.

Not too bad overall IMO,

Maybe so.

I'm not really that angry (especially after reading Gigone's whole schmeal!) all of the suddent waiting 20 days for a knife doesn't seem so bad.

Anyhow, it's hard to communicate with Discountknives b/c it seems Brian does not check his email that often. That, or he doesn't reply as quickly.

But things will work out, I took my business to 1sks and hope to have a folder at least by next week.

Sucks to be out of an EDC. Right now all I got is my fixed blade, and I'm in college. Whenever I try to cut something, it's always "*gasp!* he has a weapon!!" It happened today. And yesterday. Looking forward to getting a progrip (whoever it comes from).

I've read many comments on Discount Knives, some positive, some not so positive. I believe it all boils down to whether or not Brian has the knife in stock. If so, delivery is usually quick and efficient. Problems seem to arise, however, if the knife has to be back-ordered. My usual rule is not to rely on e-mail; I place my orders by telephone, so as to know for sure whether an item is in stock or not. So, my advice when dealing with Discount Knives would be simply to call to make sure Brian actually has the knife you're looking for. That's what I did the one time I dealt with Discount Knives a few years back. I made sure to order a knife he had in stock, the price was excellent, shipment was fast. I had no complaints.

I've purchased many knives from Brian over the past few years.
Never had a problem with Brian or his service.

The one time a knife had to be returned a credit was issued without delay.

Just want folks to know that there is also a "bright" side.

Do a search on Discount Knives here. I ordered several times from him with no problem, then had an experience that was so bad I swore I would never deal with him again. That was two years ago. I haven't but I see the same complaints continuing since then.

I prefer to order from a dealer who knows what customer service is, and treats his customers with respect. Discount Knives is more like a slot machine - you put your money in, pull the handle, and maybe you win a knife.

Yeah, I'm still bitter, and it's been two years.

Deal with 1SKS, New Graham, Knife Outlet, or Knifecenter.com. All good people who will treat you with respect, and go out of their way to help you.

While I've had quite a few successful dealings with Discount Knives. . .it doesn't change the experience(s) that you've had with them !

I empathize with you !

I can only wish you greater endeavors in the future ! ! :)

Naw, it's cool.

Like I said, 20 days isn't unbearable, just a bit irritating.

Maybe he doesn't have it in stock, maybe I should order over the phone. Good call, Nathan S.

Thanks a lot guys.
