Discovery Channel's Hogs Gone Wild

I live in Milolii Hawaii. This is the last traditional fishing village in Hawaii. Everyone lives on subsistence . The village does not have power or city water, but we do have phone lines. The hogs are distributed to the families. The hogs are very important to the Hawaiians , they are considered one of the lesser Gods in Hawaiian religion . So they show alot of respect to them. All hogs harvested on the show in Hawaii are donated this way.We can not take the meat to the food banks or kitchens do to the laws in Hawaii. This is something that has to be addressed. We in Hawaii avoid killing on TV so we don"t have PETA down our necks. The animal rights people are already making nasty phone calls. I don"t know how they get our numbers so quick.

Thanks
Tobso

I plan on a return to Hawaii to help with this problem in next few year!

I see that they moved the show two weeks out. I don"t know why but thats what happened.

I don't know about on a pig hunt but in a farm pig situation a Buck Nighthawk works well.

There are some threads on Dan Koster's forum in the maker's section about hog hunting too.

We will have new vests on our dogs for the show. They are top notch. Now if i can only go into the cave without getting bit.

I saw an episode and haven't been able to find the show again. What day and time is it on?

They didn't tell other than the end of the month. I know our numbers will stay up. We will be no.1 watched show on Discovery channel. The episodes only get better.

I talked to the producers and they said you will be able to see the shows again within the month. This show is the second highest rated show , so they will not walk away from something that is so successful . I was told that we will start to see commercials shortly.

Ive dayworked for some of the bigger ranches in florida, so ive mostly just hog hunted with the dayworking cowboys that work with me. The first time we went out i took a spyderco military and they just laughed at me. Eveyone that i hunted with used the same stockman slip joints they carry at work. Quite honestly thats all you need. Ive killed numerous hogs with my case large stockman. we were of course using dogs and a buggy, but i never felt "unequiped" just carrying my case.

I watched the last show and noticed when they were handling and hog tying the pigs they just caught, I saw empty sheaths on their belts yet no knives in their hands. Isn't that kind of dangerous?

Just saw this for the first time last night. Man, I didn't realize rampant hogs could be such a problem! Was that a Cold Steel Kukri Tobso was carrying?

The recent episode is not at all like the first shows. It's pretty watered down, lots of knives hanging on belts, no more pig sticking. Got the feeling PETA stuck it to Discovery and this show.:thumbdn:

Off topic but what's the deal with the Discovery channel these days? They used to have educational shows but now it's nothing but crab fishing, ice road trucking, lumberjacking and now hog sticking. Maybe they should just change it to the Discover Working Class Americans Swearing At Each Other Channel.

Sorry.

Apparently the ESEE Junglas is good for killing boar. I saw it in the ESEE subforum.
Seriously....I remember back in the day, turning on the Discovery Channel and learning about brown bear, or lions in Africa, or sting rays, or Alaskan Wild Life. What gives? I enjoy some of the shows that are on now (Deadliest Catch, Mythbusters, Dirty Jobs, etc.) but where did all of the nature shows go? To be fair, if you get the National Geographic Channel, they cover many of the nature shows now.

whatever peta & those misguided attempt , in texas most land is privately owned & we do as we wish legally. peta & others face trepassing charges if they interfere with private owners.---dennis

Animal Rights groups are pretty well known for disregarding property laws in their attempts to "liberate" animals. They really don't mind getting charged for trespassing as long as it shines some light on whatever it is they're protesting at the moment.

I've really been enjoying the show. I'm heading to Georgia next year to knife hunt boar with a fellow BF member. Here's the knife I made for the hunt. 1/4" thick, 9" blade of CPM S35 VN steel. CS Trailmaster sheath.
