Don't know why this never occured to me before.

Good thinking: IWB (inside the waistband), clip under belt. I used to carry an old Cold Steel Ultra-lock tanto like that, but just over my right front pocket. No one ever noticed it, but I also generally wear wider belts than you are showing.

whats the knife in the picture? clip seems really thick. good for deep pocket carry

That's how I usually carry my Endura, except that I carry it up front, just over the beginning of my right pocket. I hardly notice it and NO ONE else does.

I dont think its all that discreet. I think it will catch more there than Carried Strong side that way. Who knows who is checking you out in the checkout line from behind.
Another problem is catching it on stuff and gouging car interiors. Strong or off side carry under the belt is better to avoid those problems. It is low key though you are right about that. But the lowest key carry is to wear dark jeans, and carry in the pocket. A pocket with nothing else in it. Not clipped to the pocket, but in it.
You can have your hand wrapped around it and appear to just have your hands in your pocket.

I disagree, that method of carry looks good to me. I don't that too many people would notice. And you also have to take into account that some people dont even know what a knife clip is. BTW, jln 26, that looks like a Spyderco Cricket. Great knife, so easy to conceal!

I've carried like that for years now. Started with a Benchmade mini-AFCK, and now have an Atkinson small combat folder. I've found that black or matte grey clips are noticed less than stainless polished clips. Regardless, I've never had a problem, and have only once had someone ask me what it was.

Just because coworkers and strangers are not asking you what's in your pocket, does not mean they are not noticing. Think, fellas!

I NEVER approach people I see with clips showing, asking "hey, whatchagot?" I don't know if the person is a cop, criminal, enthusiast, whatever. I just make a mental note and keep an eye on them. Observers to your clip are likely doing the same.

I carry my Starmate that way. Noone seems to notice and I can't even tell it's there until I reach for it. The Spyderco Starmate was the solution I was looking for in a larger size knife that I could carry discretely. Works great for me...

RH, you have a point. However, I also think that one's apearance has a lot to do with it as well. If you look like you just walked out of prison a pocket clip my raise a few more eyebrows than if you are well dressed. Also, I know my local knife laws, and I wouldn't dream of carrying a knife that violated them. Here in Georgia, one needs a concealed carry permit to carry most full-size "tactical" knives in the pocket. By carrying it with the clip showing (assuming the blade length isn't in violation), no laws are being broken. I guess when you get right down to it, as long as I feel confident that I'm not breaking any law, I could care less what your everyday sheeple at the checkout line thinks of my pocket clip. If it comes to them informing a police officer, I'll gladly show them my knife (and quote them the applicable Georgia statute if necessary). I refuse to be paranoid about what some soccer-mom thinks.

If you carry your knife like in the picture above, and don't tuck in your shirt, it's extremely discreet.
If I'm wearing cargo shorts, I sometimes will clip the old Endura to the right bellows pocket.

IWB carry is great...

Right now, as I'm sitting here, my current load is:
Spydies:
SS Dragonfly, plain, top of right poket, IWB
Delica, plain, dead center of back, IWB
Tufram Cricket, serrated, watch pocket(loose inside)
Ladybug, 50/50, loose in right pocket(with change/cash wallet)
other:
POS multi-tool on right hip

I don't even notice my spydies, and with canted IWB(tipped) for the tip of the clip under the belt too, I don't think many other's notice them either.

Does anyone else have this problem?

When I carry a knife in my pocket (not clipped, just loose in the bottom), it inevitably ends up lying sideways, so that the ends of the knife stick out and show through my jeans.

I wish there was a way to make it stay upright (yes, I know it's called a pocket clip - I mean upright at the bottom of my pocket).

And no, I can't walk around all day with my hand in my pocket.

One way to help fix the problem is to use a pocket sheath of some kind, Mark. Often a nylon or leather pistol magazine (or pistol) pouch will work quite well, particular those designed for small weapons. I've seen sites linked here that include purpose-designed pocket knife sheaths, too, but I don't remember any addresses for those.

a cricket(or other spydie) modified for "discreet" carry-

hot glue or epoxy a long tie bar to the clip, wear as a tie clip.

mgeoffriau,

I wear “Dockers” trousers which have inside the right front pocket an additionally small pocket. I do not know what the intended purpose of this extra pocket is (maybe for small change) but it is ideal to keep the folder vertical in the pocket.

I took the clip off of my BM Mini-Stryker and carry it in my back pocket right next to my wallet. It just looks like part of my wallet when they're both im my pocket and it only took a few days forit to become a habit of moving it over with one finger as I slide my wallet back in. Only problem is acouple of holes in dress pants :)

The whole concept of discreet carry is to be absolutely certain the only person who knows you are packing a knife or a whatever is YOU!!!!
The element of surprise must be maintained because a POS with evil intentions will scan his/her area very closely for EXACTLY what shows, in this case the CLIP, before they begin their deed. If they cannot see, U just might have an edge!!!! ( no pun.....)

DeputyTom, I said the same thing as you.....

At the same time, if the CAN see your clip, they just might turn tail and git! Why mess with someone whose not going to take it?
