Discreet carry

Yes Sir, It just might be a shock to see a knife clip or a part of a holster for some sane nut, who is not committed to meet his/her maker AFTER inflicting as much damage as possible. Many mass killers could not care less, or have any fear when they are ready to act. I am certain we could debate the good and bad of a complete discreet concealed carry versus a somewhat concealed/discreet carry, and the what IF the evil doer will actually "turn tail and git" History seems to suggest that they prefer to take out the potential dangers FIRST, then complete the act, and then go on to Hell. But not being a mind reader and having to REACT to the ACTION, I prefer to keep secret that I just might have some sort of "neutralizer" and take my chances without detection by anyone.......PEACE,

Wolfman, yet another good point. I guess I see now that there are two mindsets behind the "discrete" carry: 1) those who carry discretely for potential use as a self-defense weapon, and 2) those who carry discretely a tool that may make others uncomfortable. If (1) it seem best to have the knife completely concealed. If (2), then it may not matter as much as long as it is "discrete".

This is just what I'm picking up after reading all the responses.

Hell, I just carry my Strider AR in a kydex rig on the outside of my waist like normal. Have gotten a few comments, mostly asking where they can see more of Joe's work.

I believe their are some very strong and valid points to both concealed carry and discreet carry. I will even throw in the "completely open for all to see carry". I am not intelligent enough to debate the issue, I am simply offering my very humble opinion. I guess the "who knows, I cannot read minds, have no crystal ball" theory is my 'mindset". I have no idea what is gonna happen next, cannot read minds, and prefer to be in the background looking like dumpy me as I stand in front of the magazine rack at Walmart. Go ahead, scan me, look at me closely, I assure you that ONLY I know what I am carrying as a DEFENSIVE (No BullSh*t use of "tool")WEAPON!!!! just as you are 100% CERTAIN, my experience in Walmart shall be STERILE, I am not 100%, just 99.999%. Therefore, I see no need to telegraph that I am the Lone Ranger, Zorro, Batman, for I am far from them. I need an advantage, I need to be in a position to make a decision to be an active participant or a GREAT WITNESS. I sure as hell do not want people to look at me and expect me to be their savior. Hey, that guy over there has a big bulge under his shirt, a large clip on his waistband, and he did NOTHING. Or then again, the .0001% of the time that critical incident "might happen", but is prevented because the person saw that "bulge", clip....THOUGHT I was an armed danger and left walmart and went to K-mart instead is not bad for ALL the folks in walmart!!!!So, no debates for me, this is MY POST!!!! I ask you to agree or disagree, find any degree of sense or NOT, and follow-up with another opinion. That is the purpose, I just have long ago made a decision that for me the ONLY method to carry a weapon be it a knife or a firearm is as absolutely concealed, but readily accessible as possible. SORRY, for the long wind, I have gas....PEACE

I would have to agree with the proponents of concealed (i.e., in the pocket instead of clipped to it) versus discreat carry.

My motto is to 'be prepared', but not 'look prepared'.

Wow, Wolfman, I like your style. Now, although I can't disagree with your last post, I can say this: You and I carry knives for very different reasons. I really have never thought there would come a day where I would have to use my knife as a weapon. That probably comes from the fact that I've never been in a situation where I would have to, or even feel like I might. That is what I was getting at in my previous post.

Here's my problem: A lot has happened to our world recently, and I'm getting nervous. After reading this full thread and watching the news dayn in and out, I'm beginning to reconsider why I own and carry knives.

I grew up in a potential nuclear ground zero (a few miles from NORAD), and there was nothing I could do about a potential attack. Today, I work in downtown Atlanta, a few blocks from the CNN center. That is considered by many experts to be a potential ground zero to our newest enemy. But they are much more personal about things. The next attack won't be a flash in the sky like I grew up fearing. Maybe the next one I can do something about.

I guess we all have to live more closely now with the very real possibility that someday we may be forced to act.

Thanks for the insight,

-Al-

I Like the IWB carry for days when concealment is needed.
A wider belt in black, worn on the side you would hide that sucker right up. Even more hidded with a phone on the belt in front of it. I dwould prefer the side of frontal position though.
