Discrete self defense weapon for my woman

I'm trying to come up with something my wife could use for self
defense that she wouldn't need a lot of skill or strength to use. I'm
thinking of having a set of these made. Looks like either hair pins or
chopsticks, extremely discrete self defense weapon.

Dark brown micarta handles and dark brown leather sheath, for steel, I like the idea of damascus,
but I'm open to suggestions. I think carbon should be avoided, I
expect to be nomadic at some point, I'll be fighting to keep my tools
from rusting as it is.
Metal points go inside the chopsticks.
Total length about 10 - 10.75". I'm basing that off of the chopsticks
I have. It could be a bit less, as a woman's hands are smaller than
mine. The handle would be about 4" tapering to the hilt, with about
5-6" of blade.
I'm currently leaning towards a knife maker out of saskatchewan that I've dealt with previously, who else is out there that would make a set of these?

I have taught self defense and edged weapons for many years. My first thought is I am glad you/she are being proactive versus reactive. My second thought is how she will carry them to access them if needed suddenly. Keeping defensive weapons in a purse is generally not a good plan unless you are using a tactical purse such as made by Coronado Leather for concealed carry but quick access. I would strongly recommend she get some training in a reality based program. Expecting someone with no training to access defensive edged/stabbing weapons under duress and use them successfully is asking for a lot. Good luck with your search and I sincerely hope she stays safe.

If she is bothering to go to her purse, she'd just use mace or something else.
It does go against grey man strategy of blending in, because if she looks anything like this, every guy is going to be eying her. I'm thinking every guy is already looking anyway, and the idea is to hide a lethal weapon in plain sight that can be accessed at the last moment, just as my wife has been overpowered and is about to be raped.
No access to her purse, her pockets or belt. Guy is on top of her, what's left?

Smith & Wesson 38 air weight, just pull the trigger 5 times.... and some good hollow points of course.

I think chopsticks wouldn't be good.
Idk where you are or what you Really want.....

In my opinion, it's hard to compete with a good flat blade screwdriver. Pointy end 6-8" long. Something nice to grab on to.

Stab chopsticks into a tree.
Stab a screwdriver into tree. The handle on the screwdriver is more comfortable and natural. Better grip.

If looking for Other useful ideas. Look at @Baryonyx scissors. They look Amazing. I know I want a pair. I bet those stab well, too.

I agree about training.
I did Krav for 4 years.
Aggression and the will to do Anything needs to be encouraged/taught to some people. It's not always easy. We've had it deprogrammed from our civilized society..... Heck, lots of instructors aren't even comfortable teaching how to gut a person.....

If she isn't holding anything at that moment... nothing is going to save her except Piss and Vinegar.

That's why situational awareness is so critical.

I just wrote a long response and deleted it. The fact is that a 200lb guy attacking an average woman is a terrible thing. An average strength guy can hold a woman down pretty easily and pin both wrists with one hand. If getting attacked are truly concerns, she needs to get into some true self defense classes ASAP. Learning to fight involves many things, but needs to include standing techniques as well as fighting on the ground and learning weapons of many types.

It is surprising how many people who carry knives have never tried drawing one while on the ground, or while grappling. It is harder than it seems.

Fighting is not about winning- it is about surviving to make it home to your loved ones. Anyone can be beat or raped depending on the situation. All we can do is train for worst case scenario, prepare, be aware, avoid if possible, and be willing to do whatever we as individuals think is possible. Some women will not defend themselves, but will defend a child for example. Some people are not willing to really hurt someone even if they are being hurt.

Maybe you both could go observe some classes and talk with an instructor about your concerns. Krav Maga as mentioned in another post is excellent. Self defense jiu jitsu combined with a stand up style is great too.

This.....
She really has to learn to hate the people who would do it to them.....I wasn't joking about the piss and vinegar.

Survival is about Mindset.
I know a woman who stabbed her would be rapist Numerous times.
Covered in their blood, you Just Keep Stabbing.....
You Have to.

Most people think they have it, they don't.

Mike Tyson said something perfect like..... Everybody has a plan....until they get Hit in the Face.

Women used to wear these long knitting needle-looking metal things in their hair that could be used as a weapon but were not alerting to authorities. I like things that have an innocuous use but could be used as a weapon if needed.

If you want something like that made, I am sure David Mary here on the forums could make you a stellar set. He is amazing to deal with, makes great knives, is a martial artist, and a great person. He may have some ideas as well.

Good luck with your search.

One thing to consider is that in some states/locations those would unfortunately be considered illegal weapons (CA for instance would probably find those to be illegal even if openly carried because they don’t look like weapons).

Just something to keep in mind…

I she would be better served with a wharncliffe shaped knife with a 4" blade that she can carry IWB. And some MBC training.
