I have some money to add an addition to the shop tools. What I am considering is either a disk grinder (9" from Beaumont), or his rotary platen. Right now, I am torn between the two. As of now, I can only get one, though at some point I will have both. Its a matter of which one now.
My flat grinds are getting much better. WIth a disk grinder-from what I have gathered in my research- might make them even better. I also like the ability to use the grinder to flatten or clean up steel or wood.
I would like to start doing convex grinds, and again, from what I have read, the rotary platen would give me a leg up in that department. Not to mention the flexibility to shape handles and guards.
Curious to see input on this, and maybe someone with a similar situation and the outcome of your decision will hopefully chime in as well.
