Hello, My name is wife & I am married to a knife knut! I need to know if anyone has info. on knife display cases, what kind to get, where to get them. All I know about knives is that they are sharp & sometimes pretty! I would love to surprise him with all his "babies" in a case when he got home from work. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Try these....two types, the first squeezes the knives between the glass and a foam background, I have these and they work well with same thickness knives if you want to hang them. But I dont hang them because I'd be sick if $4,000 knives fell:

I haven't tried these yet but they sit flat on top of a desk or dresser, if you email him you can get them direct:

this pic is the unfinised ones, but the ones he had finished looked great, I'm sure he can send you a picture.
If you have any questions, e mail me

Thanks Michael!
Just one more question, he has alot of folders & a few fixed blades so what size in your opinion should I get? I'm asking on here because I don't know if I can ask before ordering! I was thinking of getting one of the biggest ones but have no idea if it should be real deep or just kinda?? Sorry I'm not much help but I know nothing about this!!!

Boy, that knifeknut is one lucky guy to have a wife like you, who supports his hobby. Personally I would go for a larger size case, since the cost-per-square-inch of display area is generally the lowest. That is, of course, unless there are other size restrictions (hang it on the wall, fitting a certain shelf, etc.). I know this isn't nice after you seem to have made up your mind, but here is another link to some folks who make very nice and good value cases. I have one and am extremely happy with it.

Good luck with whatever you choose -- I'm sure he'll be overjoyed.

Don't know if it's too late to make a suggestion, but I'd strongly recommend a Gerstner Tool Chest. Solid oak, high quality construction, and you can get them in several sizes. You can even buy a basic 7 or 11 drawer case and add a larger base with more drawers as the collection grows. Check them out at http://www.agrknives.com/gerstner/gerstner.html

I know I have been hammered for suggesting them, but I agree with Chuck. As far as beauty and construction Tomway boxes are second to none.

They are not cheap, but nice knives are not cheap either. If I ever get married again (reads cold day in hades) my wife will have one of their jewelry boxes too.

DO NOT, repeat, DO NOT PURCHASE ONE OF THE SAM'S SPECIALS!!! They are crap.

No I don't work for Gerstners or anyone selling Gerstners. I speak from experience.

Last year I decided I needed a Gerstner to store my knives. They look good, have enought storage space for my entire collection, and lock up tight to keep small hands away from sharp thingies. Unfortnately, I didn't have the money to buy a new Gerstner, nor did I have the skills to refinish an old one. So I bought one of these Chinese-made pieces junk-piles on Ebay for $150 (about a week later they showed up at Sam's for $98).

Within 6 weeks the wood on three sides was cracked as much as 1/4". The top warped so much it pushed out a corner and the security panel got stuck in place -- I had to pry it off with a screwdriver! Plus the felt in most of the drawers started coming unglued. Now, even the lock won't work.

Save your money, like I should have done and am now doing, to get the original. I've seen in posted here before -- I should have paid closer attention:

knifeknut'swife,

A case is a great idea; he'll love it.

I recommend Customdisplay.com

I've bought three and their service is great.

They offer a 2 inch case for folders and 3 inch cases for fixed blades; also customs.

You will love listening to the music (California Dreaming) while decide on which cases to buy.

Well guys, I'm the lucky bastid! :D I would like to thank all of you for your great advice and for being so nice to my wife. I really appreciate it.

I love the case she got me! I think it came from customdisplays.com. It is dark oak with blue velvet. It makes a great home for some of my special babies. I put it in "the man room", which is the room in the house where I put my "man stuff" - weight set, guns, knives, etc... It looks great there! Thank you sweetheart. ;)

I still can't believe I didn't know it was her! I was thinking "wow, that guy's lucky. I wish I had one of those". So now I do! :D
