The customer who purchased my Type G requested a bearded axe and a functional shield that could all go together as a display unit. The shield is made from old barn oak planks bearing cold-dished copper boss (goatskin lined) and deer rawhide rim. This shield is fully functional. The over-all weight has been reduced by tapering the thickness from the center to the edges. The wall mount is a V-shaped wood structure with antique wrought iron square nails for the shield rest and leather thongs to secure the weapons. This arrangement is amazingly secure and also provides for a quick and easy dismount for managing midnight pillaging raids. Or would also come in handy during Zombie season.
