Many posts on this forum ask questions that would be better answered if you displayed your location below your name. Ask a fishing, plant, or other area specific question, you would get a better answer from someone who knows the area. I fish the Great Lakes and Florida. Know Eastern plants and animals. I Could not give good advice to someone living out west. Sometimes great pictures of hikes and trips are displayed and I wonder where they were taken. So type in you approximate location, It would be great to know.

Well said, but you might want to also include your state. For example, I have no idea were the Maumee River is...

It generally makes me laugh when someone asks an area-specific question with no hint as to his location.

"Is it legal to carry this knife here?"
"Where??? :p "
"England."
"Yikes."

Where IS the Maumee? I think the Miami Indians were from Illinois ...

Hmmm... at 365,000 sq miles I guess 'BC' isn't too specific. Then there's the fact that you can go from coastal bogs of skunk cabbage and huge bracken and sword ferns to Ponderosa pine and sage brush in about 3 hours...lol.

So, give us a rough idea - Southern B.C., Northern, Eastern.................

Yes, the geographical location isn't as important as a description of the specific environment. If all I said was "suburban northern New Jersey" you would be right to think sidewalks, houses, garden. But I do have treelined trails and a lake with woods around it just a short walk from here. That's the area that counts.

That's sort of the problem. I live on an isolated bit of coastline in SW BC but I grew up and learned a lot in the semi arid interior and a lot of my military training was in the boreal Chilcotin region. Kind of an odd place, but I guess it's like northern vs southern Ontario, N vs S California, E vs W Washington, etc.

FWIW, I holiday in the hot dry interior scrub the most but I live in the rain-drenched coast the rest of the year. I wonder how many characters the 'location' box will allow:D

The "location" isn't really the point. When you post about a hike or a trip, that's where the specifics would help, in the thread itself.

:)
Im in Aus , an island in the southern hempisphere

I just made my location show ... but Im going on a trans continent trip begining Friday ... so the pics will be from between here n the west coast ... :)

Ill do me best to remember where they was took

I beleive a portion of it runs through Ohio if I'm not mistaken, Maumee, Ohio in fact. Went to camp there in grade school. Oh, by the way, I'm in Lower Pennisula Michigan. Plenty of places to get lost in, but you can go to Da U.P. if you really want remote.
