Quick question but would you consider buying a knife that was on display at a store? It's a Benchmade axis lock type knife. And its selling for 40% or so less.

wouldn't hesitate one bit if it's a knife I want, BM customer service is there if there is a problem with the knife.

Absolutely, as long as there's nothing actually wrong with it.

I bought a Delica out of the display case just a few weeks ago.

A knife that was strictly a display ? Yes , I'd buy it but only if it was the last one they had in stock of that model.

Nothing wrong with buying the display knife if it's the last one, but you may not get a box though.

Definitely, a few years ago I found a mini Rukus in a store display. They were already long discontinued.
The counter guy was apologizing for not having another in stock and sold it to me for $105.

Absolutely, I had my first knives on display open, lock engaged for 6 years, when I took back the knife hobby I grabbed them back and after being opened and on display for 6 years they were new, everything still works, I don't care much about boxes unless its a LE or a custom

My first Bencmade was a Spike. It was the display model and had less than perfect lockup. I got a great deal and immediately sent it to Benchmade for a free repair; they sent it back with a new blade in2 weeks.

Hell yes. I'd check it out and assuming there's no evidence that, for instance, a customer opened it up and then accidentally dropped it tip down on a concrete floor, or some other major flaw, I'd buy it and then giggle like an idiot about the great deal I got.
I love store displays. 3 years later, I still smile when I think about the Weber Smokey Joe that I bought for $12 at the big blue home improvement store because it was the display and end of season. Obviously unused. Not too many people fire up the display grill in the middle of the store...:D

I have bought a display.

Cold Steel Trailmaster in SMIII.

Got it for under $150!

No scratches. No dings. Had the box, and sheath, and paperwork. All I had to do was wipe the prints off, and take the sticker off the blade.

No,no,no. You should definitely not by that knife. By the way, what store is it at? LOL

Agree with all the comments above. Snatch it up. You get a great knife that now comes with a great story.
Also, another item I sometimes buy cheap with a plan to send it for free repairs, Zippo lighters. Zippo will fix or replace with Thier lifetime guarantee. If you ever have a chance to go to the Zippo Factory in Bradford PA, it's worth the trip. Of course you can also see lots of cool case knives.

Giddyup,
Cosmo

I would never hesitate buying a Benchmade display model......never!!
BM has the best warranty service around! If there is anything you feel needs to be fixed, they'll fix it and send it back for free!
Grab it.......or let us know where it is!!!
Do you know which model it is?? Maybe a pic???

Thanks fellas...

Trying to lock it in now. It's a Benchmade 485 Valet. It's an Internet purchase so I can't actually handle it, just a bunch of pictures sent. Everything looks clean and new. They were veryup front and honest about everything. Might be worth a shot to take...
