Displaying Slipjoints with open blades

Never had a spring break on me yet...there's tempting it

Most knives can be relied on to be displayed for a long time with blades out springs under tension but you can't depend on it for sure, so why put it at risk? Best way is to carry, use and open your knives when you feel like it

I did a lot of research on this subject years ago, for the purpose of understanding gun magazine spring wear.

I remember the consensus being that a proper spring only wears by flexing back and forth, and not by being stationary in any state of normal movement.

That said, I still wouldn't keep blades that share a spring partially open.

I keep them closed and avoid the risk all together!
