Displaying your collection

I'm not sure I have what you would call a collection. I have my users and then I have the ones that I think I will like or buy as an investment and they just sit in their box in a drawer. Some are backups and some are knives that I don't think I would like any better than the ones I use.

My users just sit on my dresser to grab. I've got about a dozen and a lot don't see much use so I should probably stash them in different vehicles and bags.

So basically I'm not much help :D

My display, grandchildrens' knives. Open on front, all knives on glass shelves

Very impressive ! I really think the wall displays are a great way to showcase a collection:thumbup:

Very nice examples from everyone. I am also looking for an easy way to display my knives and still have easy access to them when I decide to rotate my EDC.

Stainz:
I have the fixed blades now in a display area for an English antique corner 'bar', whose 220V lamps were replaced with undercounter 'cans' using LEDs. Cool white/even illumination at a 6W night light's power requirement. The hex glass cabinet now has just pocket knives - and flashlights - in it now. Check stores that specialize in 'collections' goodies, if you can find any more local such stores.

Your way to store them seems to fit my needs right now. How do you feel about those LED´s, are they "too cold"?

The picture you posted (nice pic BTW) gives the impression that the vawelength seem right for knife display, did you photoshop the lighting in your pic? Do you feel that the picture represents the color of your LED lighting as it is when you look at it?

Sorry if I am a pain with all my questions but that setup really triggered me to start working on a display for the knives I own.

Very interesting thread. I will update with a pic of my display in the future.

/C.

JatMat - looks like you've added a few?

My current rotation (fixed & folders, about a dozen) are on my bedroom bookshelf, sitting on/covered with a cotton diaper. I switch them out every once in a while. The rest of my collection is in a little IKEA drawered cabinet, the kind you build yourself. It's a WIP right now; I'll need to expand soon.

thx - cpr

This is part of the Cold Steel part of my collection. The Busse's, Kabars, Byrds, Bucks, Gerbers, Kershaws and Leathermen don't fare much better... :D

JatMat, don't give out your address because you might find me one day in your kitchen fondling your knives. ;) :D

OK by me, here are the Total Travel Estimates: 8 hours 48 minutes / 553.54 miles from Columbus. :D

for some reason i find displaying everyday production knives odd  no offense to anyone who does though. i have one display case for family knives that were made/used from previous generations, but not something you can readily buy online or at walmart, i use those :foot:

This is a very interesting thread, please keep the pictures coming,I love to see how other people keep their collections.

That slippy display is killer and I've always liked the shadow boxes, good stuff.

I use a display case, old pic of it.

Two locked sliding doors on the back along with two locked drawers on the bottom for sheaths and boxes.

Keeps the kids out and scares the neighbors.
