I just bought an emerson traveler sf and am extremely disappointed. The knife came with a pocket clip that should be for left handed people. The knife has a big hook or shark fin looking thing on the blade that catches my pants when I pull it out of my right pocket. So everytime I pull the knife out of my pocket it opens the knife which is dangerous. Also, when opening the knife and locking it, it doesn't feel like it locks into place. Then when opening the knife from a closed position it catches on something and is kind of hard to open the knife. I am SOOOOO disappointed. I have over 10 pocket knives, none of them under 50 bucks and I like everyone of those. This one I cant even use!!!!!!!!! Does anyone have this knife? I read a thread on overrated knives on this site and emereson was one that most said was overrated. I guess I should have listened.

Normally I would be defending an unhappy Emerson customer from all the overly proud fanboys bashing him for being unhappy with his purchase. (even though I like Emerson knives myself)

However, I have to agree with the poster above on this one. This guy seems like a bad troll.

No im serious. The large hook on the knife is dangerous. it opens the knife when pulling out of my pocket. I am no knife expert at all but figured I would be able to carry it in my pocket without it opening. Please let me know if im being stupid here.

Okay, as I've been the first one to throw the rock here, I'll try to redeem myself, even tho I know absolutely nothing about Emerson's knives except for what I'll tell you.

The shark fin on your blade is called a "wave" feature, that permits (oh surprise) a fast deployment out of your pocket.

May I ask if you bought it yourself or if it was a gift? Cause you know, "waves" are kinda hard to miss on a picture.

I bought it but I I just think the "wave" shouldn't be face towards the edge of my right pocket. If there were other options where to put the clip that would be great. This one doesn't. So is it not made to wear in your pocket? Or is it suppose to be in your left pocket? Every other knife I have there is no problem with this or it has the option to move the clip to where you desire. I wear the knife on my right pocket and so does everyone other right handed person I know. In this case wearing the knife in my right pocket is dangerous. Is it made to be this way? Or is it not made to be in my pocket? Please let me know. Maybe there is something im not getting about the knife. That is not meant to be sarcastic. I want to wear the knife in my right pocket like I do all my knives and wont carry this one because its dangerous. If its not meant to be carried in a pocket I will return it.

it is meant to be carried as you say, in the pocket... the wave is meant to catch the pocket and deploy the knife as you pull it out...

I don't normally post in this subforum, but I happened across this thread and I had a great laugh. I can't tell if the OP is trolling or if he's genuinely just out-to-lunch, but either way, this is hilarious.

If you do decide to return it, be sure to take a picture of the salesperson's face when you tell them that your Emerson knife is defective because it features an Emerson patented Wave - I'm sure it'll be priceless.

The 'shark fin' aka 'wave' is an acquired function of the knife. You can look up at tons of reviews on how it functions to educate yourself, otherwise, if it doesn't suit your needs, then the best educated gesture is to "SELL IT".....

Put it as deep as you can into your rear center pocket and it should work fine. No, just kidding. I don't want you to hurt yourself. Just kidding!

It's made for right front pocket carry that way you can "wave" it out and be ready to go. Works back left also if you like a reverse grip. A simple method to not wave it out is when pulling it out of your pocket, grab it with your thumb in the pocket index finger on the clip and your middle finger opposite your thumb. That.way it blocks the blade. Angle the knife to where the wave touches your leg and pull. Much simpler to do then explain.
