Dissapointing Spyderco experience or am i too anal?

oh dear! that's definitely damaged beyond repair. :D
I'll trade you a ladybug for it, though, so you aren't left out in the cold.

I have a gently used Ladybug SE. I happened to grind off the serrations to make it PE though, consider it a custom!
LOL!:foot:

Jim,

I feel your pain but you posted this in the wrong forum. What you need to do is post this in the general forum and let it fester for a few weeks. Then call out the owner of the company over on the Spyderco forum. I hope this helps.

-Paul

When did Spyderco start putting holes in fixed blade knives? I'd probably be tempted to get one of the fixed blade Spydercos if they didn't come with a manufacturing defect, a hole in the blade.
I can see the purpose of the holes and like them in folders, but not in fixed blades.

I don't think you're being anal, that's obviously shoddy QC. Send it back immediately and demand satisfaction. Anything less than a brand new replacement and a public apology would be a slap in your face.

Spyderco's warranty does not cover Rottweiler chewing. Pit Bulls yes, Rotts no. ;)

Good show! :D:thumbup:

It turns out that the so called "strong" FRN is not able to withstand my teething rottweiler a few years ago!

Should i contact Spyderco for a new temperance and an apologise?
I sure hope Sal will fix this problem and i feel entitled to a replacement sheath for the temperance I AND a new Temperance II for my emotional suffering!

Or am i too anal?

I think you are all right. I am wondering is these round holes from you rottweiler? Good dogie. and you should contact Spyderco (actually, you already did, though the Forum, you late by two days, but it is OK)

I understand your point and agree - I think - but a lot of people don't read beyond the subject line in the forum message list. I'd consider editing it, even if just adding "(Humor)" or something like that so people don't think there's yet another crank spouting unbelievable, unrealistic and uneducated blather about things that are of no consequence in real life. :(

After reading all the complaints about Spyderco's quality control i decided to browse thru my kitchen utensils. Suddenly i found this Spyderco Temperance i only bought recently in 2003.
This is clearly a collectors knife, and because it is discontinued it's worth a lot of money! To my disgust the sheath was missing!
Scared about the fact that it might be damaged in any way, i grabbed my camera to see if i could locate other QC problems with it.
Thank god my camera has a macro function on it, because my eyesight is deteriorating.
After scanning the knife i felt disgusted by the things i found. My wife found me sobbing in the kitchen holding the knife, while i was screaming SAL, SAL, WHY, WHY??
It turns out that the so called "strong" FRN is not able to withstand my teething rottweiler a few years ago! Look at the identations my dogs teeth made on the handle. I can't even use the lanyardhole anymore. Then it turned out the handle had some production errors that got unnoticed for years.
It seems i can locate a round mold injection thing on the front of the handle.
Because i remembered that i saw my wife using this knife to dig out vegetation from my concrete porch a few years ago i started to inspect the blade.
The so called supersteel VG10 was SCRATCHED and CHIPPED! :eek:It even had horizontal streaks on the blade and the whole edge is ruined after only 7 years!
Luckely a lot of friends in here warned me of this apparent quality control issue, and i might have not realised it at all if my camera didn't have a macro.

Anal yes.

Picky doesn't even begin to describe some of the posts we've seen here...but thumbs up to the OP here for managing to stay within the shiney footsteps karma.
