Distressed micarta look

Kirby Lambert makes some amazing knives. The show just ended this past weekend but next year you can head to the new york custom knife show and see his stuff in person. The handle there is actually smooth. The name of that particular material escapes me at the moment but it is similar to a g10/carbon fiber laminate. You can find similar combinations at masecraft supply.
 
I live in India, so sadly visiting knife shows is not possible for me.
It almost looks like there are a few transparent layers over the black one to give it that fade kind of look. I'm not too sure as to how those wavy edges must've been incorporated in it though.
