Dive knife

Don't, don't, don't have him spend alot of money on a dive knife. There's simply no need to. In my years of diving, I have never pulled mine.
Tell him to go out to the dive shops and get a very inexpensive, unobtrusive piece that won't be in the way. I would second the idea of a very bright colored handle and sheath.

Two suggestions from my end would be the TUSA Mini Knife at $30 or the Sea Elite Voyager for 20 bucks. The TUSA is a sweetheart. Any search engine will find it for you.

The Fallkniven A1 is an excellent Dive Knife..
Carried in the Fallkniven Kydex Sheath it is very secure and easliy deployed..
Have used it several times for prying and cutting underwater.. Cuts superb..
I also carry a Spyderco Rescue Knife beaned on my Dive Harnass..
