Doing my homework on a DIY forge. I have no idea what type regulator will work for a standard USA propane tank. Please point me in the right direction. I assume it will need to be adjustable, any where from 0 psi to approx 20 psi TY
This is just one example.... I'm not "recommending" it. Regulators are easy to come by. Yo don't need anything special. Any quality regulator with aguage.
I got mine from here a long time ago (10 years I think) and it's been great. It's just now starting to act up. But I have been happy with it. I have the 0-30psi with the 5ft hose. I should have gotten the 10ft hose. Also there quick attach/detach connectors are nice. I use one on both of my burners so I can switch the gas line from one forge to the other. http://www.hightemptools.com/propaneregulators.html
Check out Atlas Knife Company
they have the regulator and their burner for only 50 bucks. Puts out 30k btu. Hell of a price. It's what I plan on going with when I build my air tank forge.
One thing I did on mine which makes it nice and easy to know how much gas is left in the tank, is I put a high pressure gauge before the regulator. Advanced auto sells one that has a shut off valve on it about like the one in the image in the air tool section. Think it's around $10 or $15. I also have my line pressure gauge up closer to the burner.
