After the recent thread about walking sticks I decided to make my own. I had several of these adjustable aluminum poles lying around and decided they would make a decent staff. I always liked the one piece Tracks staff but wanted a compartment to store survival items.

I haven't finished it yet but here is what I have done so far. For the tip I cut off the end off a broken Leki pole and epoxied it to the end of the inner shaft. This way I have a replaceable tip and basket. The inner shaft stops about 11" from the top of the staff. The shafts are connected with some paracord covered brass tubing. The paracord wraps around a strip of bike inner tube that I epoxied onto the handle area. The paracord can be removed if needed. I gave it a couple coats of black stove paint but I think I might finish it with a coat of spray on plasti-dip.

I haven't completed the top cap yet. I have a small camera mount from a Ultrapod that I will attach to a plug that fits in the handle. I will then put one of the Tracks replacement walnut knobs on the camera mount. I had thought about making my own knob but I liked the idea of having a monopod. I still have to figure out the details on the cap.

I have thought about making another with some different design elements.
