*** sorry I realized this is in the wrong spot, if a mod could move it where it might be better suited...

thanks... I thought that I had no business posting in the knifemakers showing work thread, cause I am such a noob heh. It was early! I wasnt fully awake, the sun was in my eyes and there was a rock in my shoe...

which is a pay only portion of the site and I see others posting their first attempts here so my retardism is only partly to blame.

thanks very much.. I will give the dimentions of the tools later... I have been hugely influlenced by both peter atwoods work and also a few other mulittool makers right here on this site.

I like to make them look as post apocloptic as possible, I consider them re-purposed tools... upcycled into usable tools from items like old leaf springs old bastard files etc etc.

its fun and I notice that each time I work on one my grinds get better and thats something that will pay dividends when I finally make a knife or two.

my pal wants a "rescue" knife to put in his drybag when canoing and kayaking so I think that might? be my next attempt...

thanks for looking-

So how big are these things? What are they for? Thanks!

hey I just noticed you live in fairfield maine! dude I live in belfast maine :) damn practically neighbors.

the prybar is about 3.75inches
the jagged blade (dubed Kiridachi by a member of the Flipping arena) is just over 4.5 inches

the Kiridachi is nearly the width of the bastard file it was made from...

as far as the prybar its functional though I will admit I really should have put the nail pulling grove on the backside of the curved bit, something that can still be done...

I am having fun and learning :)

Hey, I get to Belfast once in a while--only what, an hour or so away? Do you make knives too, or just the little gadgets (not that they aren't cool)?

Right now only multitools and gadgets... I am growing my shop as equiptment presents itself and hope to be working on some knives ... I am trying to work on my grinds and develop my own style, also I might try to anodize some stuff.

I have a friend whos a welder with a bunch of different types of scrap I have drawn him a few patterns and he is going to produce some blanks for me to work...

you make knifes ? I know there is some guy in Bucksport whos supposed to be really good...

I'm just getting started--my first blade is still in progress. I've only got cheap equipment to work with as well. There are several accomplished makers in Maine that are on BF. I'm just interested in doing it at the hobby level.

You've got some interesting projects going on there! Post pix when they're done. Looks like someone's into balis--too bad they outlawed 'em here--I used to EDC my Benchmade WeeHawk before the ban.

I started in on the second design, the para cord is just there for show right now...
just thought you might like to see some progress... the tiny knife with the mosiac pins is a gift for my dad... its got deep walnut handles which were antiqued by me and the blade which once was an old file has a vingar and mustard patina.

any comments welcome.. the blade is by no means done, nor has handle material been completely decided...
