DIY Step Drill - pleasantly surprised

Man ... you are drastically over-interpreting a few casual words. the results were perfect ... I could not have expected anything better ... I was amazed at just how beautifully the fit to the handle worked out. Does that help clarify?? :)
Ah you finally got it...Yes I'm responding to EXACTLY what YOU wrote on the INTERNET...interpreting a few casual words. Next time be Precise then there will be no need to go back and clarify your statements...Trusting what you read on the Internet is Sketchy at best...YMMV

my posts not that long. others as long or longer.
$500 Mammoth scale (you mean tooth)? probably not. But I also would not use a purchased tool without checking it first.
That is exactly what serious and professional knife maker will do .They will find RIGHT one for Corby bolt in several of them they purchase ... Look I like what you done , probably no one here does not improvise as much as me .But I do that for me .If I work on knife which I will sell with material I pay for , I don t think that I will improvise like I do on this picture .Do you recognize that tool :D

If the Corby is oversize chuck it up in the drill press and touch it with a File or Sandpaper wrapped over the File or block of wood while its spinning.
At the risk of re-opening this thread :-( .... Busto - I just had a chance to try your thought of putting the slightly oversized Corby into the drill press and sanding it down to diameter with sandpaper. Worked like a charm! Thank you again for the idea!

You're Welcome...30 years as a machinist I learned a trick or two;)

Used the 'improvised mini-lathe" myself many times;)

I found that the Titanium Large corby's from USAKM are slightly oversized for the matching step drill, so I have been shaving a few thousandths off with file/sandpaper for years. (best part is you can trial fit and dial in the final diameter for a "best fit."
