I agree with using a box cutter rather than a decent knife. Cardboard can have some abrasive type material that would be prone to scratching your blade.
Then what's the point of owning so many knives, as is the case of many people on this forum? I use a Benchmade Bugout S90V and a Delica K390 to cut cardboard.
To correct some info: after Teflon, for many folders, Cold Steel switched to a nice THiCK layer of shiny DLC. Gradually became a little less thick, and now they offer DLC and a more Para 2-esque matte pvd finish on some of the same models. As far as I know.

DLC preserves the finish of the blade, i.e. Rockstead put a mirror polish before applying the DLC and it stays glossy. I'm pretty sure the matte coating is a different treatment. Teflon is soft, it would strip the second it meets something hard like the contaminants in cardboard.
