For sale is my Dmitry Malahkov custom fighter. Dmitry (forum name Dmitry.M) calls his steel "Crazy Dmitry Steel" because he's crazy enough to make it himself. By make it himself I mean he smelted the ore and forged his own ingots and then forged knives from them. I cannot compare this steel to commercially available carbon steel because I haven't used this knife, but this is definitely an extremely unique knife that has more personality than virtually all of my other knives combined.
As for specs, the blade is 6.5" blade and is 11" overall. The blade is 3/16" thick at the base and has a long distal taper. It has a slight recurve as well. It has an "antique finish" which I think is some form of forced patina, but I don't know how he did it. You can still see the steel grain and temper line through the finish. The hidden tang is housed in a black walnut handle, very nicely contoured with awesome chatoyance. The bolster is handmade mokume using nickel silver and copper. The swirls are nice but a bit subdued. The sheath is nicely fitted dark brown leather, with a belt loop and "flip-top" retention strap. By this I mean the strap flips over the top of the knife when you unsnap the button, due to a metal hinge sewn into the back of the sheath. Overall this is a smooth, clean rig that is nicer than most by a long shot.
I purchased this directly from Dmitry last March and has been played with since, but never used. I have shaved hair and cut paper to confirm that it is sharp (very much so). These uses plus just sheathing and unsheathing it incurred some minor scratches that are visible in the second pic.
The price for this unique piece is $100 including CONUS shipping and paypal. I am not looking to trade at this time.
Thank you!
