A few years ago I purchased the 8" DiaSharp line. 5 stones. 120, 220, 325, 600, 1200. At first notice, the 1200 (EF) stone seemed to have large(r) diamonds than the surrounding matrix. It felt like a few very unwelcome "bumps" when sharpening an edge with that stone. Over time, tho, the surface wore in. However, the diamond coating itself seemed to come off the stone. It was not sharpening like it should (I've been using DMT products for years), there were obvious scratches on the surface of the stone made by the knives that were to be sharpened.

I contacted DMT, and one of their representatives immediately replied and told me to send it to them. Long story short, DMT not only REPLACED the 1200 grit 8" Diasharp stone, they ALSO included one of their credit card sharpeners, free of charge! What's even more cool, I have been shopping online for some sort of portable sharpener, to help with touch ups in the field if needed, and had not settled on any one product. I was thinking about the DiaFold, with Fine and Extra Fine surface. But the Fine credit card sharpener fits the bill just as well. Will probably go ahead and buy the Diafold simply because of the AWESOME customer service experience I had with DMT.

Kritina Byron, if you happen to see this, thank you again for the awesome service. I'll always be going to DMT for sharpening goods! (Although I had to try the Atoma's out as well!)

I am pleased to see that DMT has such great customer service.

I have been buying and using their products for close to 20 years now.

They haven't let me down at all!

I highly recommend their Dia-Folds because they are so easy to carry and use.

I love their stuff. They had some mild issues with their extra fine which they corrected, since then I have had great luck with the full line from eec to eef. I could get by with their line a few balsa wood strops and not feel like I was missing much. Russ

Thank you for sharing your experience; it is nice to hear. Earlier this year, I decided to pick up some bench stones to learn freehand sharpening, and after some research and for the reasonable cost, I went with the DMT Coarse through Extra Fine stones. I've been pleased with the performance, and I'm happy to know I purchased from a company that continues to offer quality support.

I just ordered a tapered round diafold for making sharpening notches on blades. Good to know DMT stands behind their products!

That's good to hear about DMT as I have their full line.

They didn't even give any objection? I'm just wondering how they would know it was their product and not your use of their product that was the issue.

They did not have ANY objection at all. Plus, it's pretty difficult for the user to cause a new stone surface to be irregular, or take the diamond layer off the stone. Only that one stone in the set of 5 had the problem, and apparently plenty others have had the exact same issues with the EF stone. I believe DMT has addressed the issues and new EF stones do not suffer the same problems. So far, the replacement stone they gave me is running well. Of course, brand new they are SUPER aggressive, and need to be worn in for best results.

Edit to add: When you tell DMT that you've been using AND selling their products since they started THEIR business, that goes quite a long way to excellent customer service on top of it all.
