DMT D8XX Question

Elliott,

I use an Extra Course DMT on the DMT Aligner jig...(snip)
What is the EE fine like?

Neeman, the Extra Coarse is not even remotely like the XX Coarse hone we're discussing here. Totally different animal. (It's also continuous surface vs. the interrupted surface.)

Difference is akin to that between pebbles and boulders by way of example.

The EE is a very fine diamond, nearly smooth feeling to the touch. I use it every now and again as a supplement to ultra fine ceramic. (But that's a discussion for another thread.)

XC exists as a Diasharp (continuous surface)

Yes, I understand as I have one. But Neeman has the interrupted surface style hone with his Aligner kit which is what I was getting at in my reply to him.

Oh, I see.

Yes, I highly recommend the continuous surface sharpeners over the polka-dotted ones. I feel like I made a huge mistake getting the XC and F stones. I got an EF continuous stone, and it does MUCH better. The interrupted stones seem to not have diamonds at the very edge while the Diasharps do, and the interrupted stones leave a pattern on the bevels toward the ricasso. This section seems to be concave, because those markings are going away slowly with my EF stone now.
