DMT setup to replace water stones?

I may just need to modify my technique using diamond then. On practically any stone I use I start of sharpening with moderate pressure to speed up the sharpening process, to finish I get lighter with alternating strokes. Perhaps i should just start light on diamond.

For fast & simple shaping of new bevels, heavier pressure (to some extent; still need to protect the hone itself) is fine. Once apexed though, it should always be light-as-a-feather. So, for simple maintenance sharpening, my mantra is LIGHT, LIGHT, LIGHT all the way, no matter the grit used. That's also a very good thing, in that once that 'touch' is found, it's easy to replicate across the whole grit range, and with any steel sharpened on diamond hones.
