Monocrystaline diamond hones are better than polucrystaline hones. I believe that DMT makes exclusively Mono hones, while EZE-LAP makes mostly, if not only, poly hones. I'd go with the DMT and it would out last me for sure!
I have a two-sided "clamp-on-the-blade" style DMT thats at least 25 years old. It still sharpens like new. Dad got it to try the "clamp-and-rod" system because he could not hold as fine an edge on a bench stone as he wanted to.
I look forward to passing it on after I'm gone. It should still be sharpening blades for my Great-grandkids.
