Do all chinooks have minor vertical blade play?

OwenM,

I got'em both out and the original Chinook is a sealed unit so I'm unable to open it. :(

How about your Chinook II's lockbar engagement vs. my Manix, above?
Thanks.

The lock on the C2 and Manix is adjustable. The Torx head screws that are between the locking bar opening and the pivot can be turned to adjust. CAUTION: It's a pain in the butt, and only a very minor adjustment can cause the lock to wobble or become too tight.

Hey Dan, I had noticed that fooling with the screws seemed to change the lockup, and that through trial and error I had made it better, but figured I had just gotten it back where it was supposed to be. Thanks, I won't give up on it, now.

Still hoping one of you can compare your lock to mine (curious about the gaps around the locking bar). It takes all of 20 seconds to take a scale off...

I just took my Chinook II apart and the lock-up is VERY similar to the one in your pic. Actually, it's almost exactly the same as your pic. After putting it all back together, lock up is still solid with no play in any direction.

I apologize for the delay in getting back to you.

All the best,
Mike U.

I just ordered a Manix from New Graham and had them to check it for play. They said it had no play at all(I could hear it snap open as they checked it,very cool).
I will not buy a knife with blade play,if a pre 98 Endura has 0 blade play then a new model 100.00 + knife should not have any.
That being said I can inderstand it haveing some if it is a knife that it can be adjusted out of.I had bought a Ti Lum with very bad play but 5 min worth of adjusting had it rock solid.
