Do all serrations eventually round off?

I've noticed when I see Spyderco serrated knives that have been used and resharpened a lot, the serrations become rounded and wavy. Is this just a natural progression with even the aggressive Spydie serrations, even when resharpened properly, or would using the Sharpmaker corners on each serration one at a time maintain the sharp points? Or does it matter?

Jim - Yes, it seems that eventually, they do wear down. I have seen some that have been "re serrated" with a chain saw file in the right size, filed at a very thin angle.

We have a few knifemakers in the Golden factory that can "re serrate" them by hand on a wheel, but it is a learned skill.

Sharpening them "slowly" on the 204 helps a great deal to avoid distorting the teeth.
