Do any of the ladies make knives?

another long time maker is Diana Casteel whose husband Doug is a terrific maker and both do wonderful knives

And how can we speak about lady knifemakers without
mentioning Harumi Hirayama of Japan... Or did I miss her name
in an earlier post...

Here is Harumi at work making the folder "Wind" for my
first book on modern custom knives...

All the best,

Maybe your wife will let you get more than one knife
if you choose the art of some of these world class lady knifemakes?

All the best,

Not sure if Joyce Minnick makes knives or just engraves them, but she and husband Jim create some VERY stylish folders.

Wow, I had no idea there were so many! Thanks for the list of camrades.

We had our first all gals hammer-in here in Alaska this past month with Maria Rodebaugh and Shelly Crowe...the boys were off killing deer. We may make it an annual!

Welcome to Bladeforums Jette. I've been on your website, you do beautiful work! I've been searching the internet for not only ladies that make knives, but ladies that collect them and use them, now and throughout history. Here's my list of women knifemakers http://knifecarver.wordpress.com/2012/09/27/women-knifemakers/ and if you don't mind I'd like to add your name also. I'm still working on the history part, but what I've found so far is fascinating!

Hi Cathy,

Thank for compiling your list of woman knifemakers! I've been barely able to find mention of more than a few women in the trade at a time. It's great to be able to see there's more than a few of us. I'm just beginning the work, and don't have much out there yet, but nice to know I'm not hoofing it largely alone out there.

Cheers!

Veronique Laurent from Belgium who got her JS stamp this weekend at Blade.

I have seen some pieces from Mick Striders daughter on various tactical knife websites. Not sure about her name. It's NOT Mick Strider, though certainly knives with a Strider and MSC flavor.

My wife Terri Parker aka "Axmistress" just became the first female full voting member of the Australian knifemakers Guild .
