Do Any Of You Carry A Spyderco/Benchmade Without The Pocket Clip?

My kids got me a Native 5 lightweight in S110V steel for Father's Day. Maybe, it is just the shorts, but it kinda crowds my hand when trying to get something out of my pocket. I'm thinking about taking the clip off and just putting it in my pocket and carrying it like my SAK. However, I'm worried about my keys/coins, etc. scratching the blade.

Any thoughts or recommendations?

I have carried my Endura in my back pocket, it worked but I don't sit on anything so the in and out with my wallet got annoying.

If it's important to have a knife on you at all times I'd just pick up something small to keep in your pocket I use a ProTech Sprint for that purpose.

Carried a Delica with no clip for a bit bc it’s small and not interesting enough to be my primary folder. I don’t like loose pocket carry but when I do I just put it in a pocket by itself

What is a dangler clip?

Its a clip which dangles:D

On a more serious note; a dangler or suspension clip allows you to carry a knife deeper in your pocket.

Dangler or suspension clip.
Here on a flashlight but you get the drift.

I seriously considered taking the clips off my two Native 5's as well as the Delica and some other small thin Spydies. I carry a large SAK just about every day. Pocket stuff should not bother the blade, but it certainly may scratch up the handles. The question is... does it really matter if you are using the knife as a knife rather than pocket jewelry? You can get leather slips or slips in general to protect a knife inside your pocket as well. You could even clip it to the slip.

Knives belong in the back pocket. Then you don't have to 'go past' it to get stuff out of your front pocket.:thumbsup:

I carry all my knives clipless. Never causes me any problems.
Not in the same pocket as my keys. Usually with my phone that keeps it snug to the far right of my rightside pocket.

I find that clips make possible a number of carries -- pocket, IWB and I don't find them obtrusive when cutting. Another option if going clipless is to carry in a sheath.

I carry all my knives clipless (including the FRN Native 5 110v) and have never had an issue with it.

Do you keep it in pockets with other things? If so, has the blade been scratched? I'm not looking for a safe queen, but I also don't want it to be needlessly damaged.

I don't remove the clip, but I sometimes just keep the knife in my empty back left pocket. I don't like the idea of the knife flopping around with my keys either. Phone is my left front, wallet in my right rear pocket, keys in the front right. So left rear is the only free space (thigh pockets left and right thigh are for tools on my work pants).

I pulled the clip off my FRN Native S30V and it is my around the house knife. I tend to carry it either loose in my shorts pocket or my watch pocket if I'm in jeans. So far so good but I'm using this knife as a beater because I got it from a pawn shop and am not worried about distressing it further.

So, I take it you didn't take off the clips? I don't need/want a safe queen, however, since my kids gave it to me, I don't want it needlessly damaged either.

Back pocket heresy!:D
To each his own and all that but Im not keen on back pocket carry.

Easily swiped and must be uncomfortable if over a certain small size.
