Do Any Of You Carry A Spyderco/Benchmade Without The Pocket Clip?

Back pocket heresy!:D
To each his own and all that but Im not keen on back pocket carry.

Easily swiped and must be uncomfortable if over a certain small size.

It isn't ideal, but I am so used to the stuff in my other pockets that it is the only one left. It works okay though. It's less weird to me than carrying my wallet rear left.

Do you keep it in pockets with other things? If so, has the blade been scratched? I'm not looking for a safe queen, but I also don't want it to be needlessly damaged.

Typically, I carry it with my car fob, a Vic Rambler on a bail with an AAA flashlight, and a stick of lip balm. I have never noticed any blade scratches. Again, it's a knife, I use it. I guess what I do when I put my knives to work would give some on here a heart attack.

I dont carry a knife nor a wallet in back pockets.
Wallet is of the minimalist kind and goes in a front pocket.
But yes, keys and knife or tool in the same pocket can be annoying.

So, I take it you didn't take off the clips? I don't need/want a safe queen, however, since my kids gave it to me, I don't want it needlessly damaged either.
No, I didn't take off the clips. For a knife in this price range, I don't consider scratches on the scales/handles as damage. The blade will not get scratched in your pocket. You can take off the clip and give it a try. The size an weight of the Native would be pocketable without the clip for me.

As I said before, you can get a slip to slide the knife in and then it won't come into contact with any of the other pocket stuff including scratching a cell phone if one is stored there. I generally keep a clipped knife in my right rear pants pocket. That would be the only thing in that pocket as my wallet is on the other side (left rear). In a rear pants pocket, you need to be aware that the knife is there in case it gets snagged on something (like a car seat) and pulled out of your pocket. You gradually learn what works for you.

I’ve not removed the clip of a knife of either brand, but I have had a Buck and a Fox/OKC that were either too thick to use with the clip, or the clip was redundant due to non-functionality and a leather sheath. S110v is hard steel, so I don’t think the occasional contact will cause a lot of scratches, but I wouldn’t carry a pocketful of change or keys. I keep keys/small flashlight on a lanyard usually, knife in pocket and change in the cars covered console.

I carry a Benchmade Bugout clipless in a $15 KSF buffalo leather slip. My Spyderco Tenacious is also clipless.

Sometimes I prefer to have my knife in my front pocket but not advertise I’m carrying a knife by showing off a clip.

I carry mine in an inexpensive knife size ballistic nylon belt sheath with a Velcro flap opener. This way my knife doesn't get into fights with the seatbelt, car keys, etc.

I carry the Benchmade Griptillian in this ammo pouch that has a metal clip that will clip to pants with or without a belt. I leave the clip on the knife because it gives finger traction for operating the axis lock but the knife is thick in the pocket. I totally dig thick handled knives though (think Buck 110) so I am very happy with this arrangement.

Very recently I got this Spyderco Pattada. The wire clip is great but it messes with my preferred grip on the knife so I finally removed the clip.
Great knife; I really, really like this knife. Oh and I carry it in the pouch shown above.

And finally I carry the Spyderco Ladybug (ZDP-189 . . . Oh Yeah Baby), the small knife shown below, loose in my pocket (it never had a clip and doesn't need one) I don't carry anything in that pocket that could mess up the knife . . . just one or two items that are plastic.

Speaking of that I find I can EDC the light version of the Buck 110 loose in my pocket and carry it all day no problem because it is so light. I have never thought to try that with the Griptillian.
Depends on the knife I guess.
The larger knife in these photos. Carries great that way.
PS: honestly though I use its factory belt pouch most of the time. It's actually quite a good pouch.

I like clips because the ocean doesn’t take them, or wherever I happen to be swimming,

I carry the vrango clipless in my watch pocket. But with the native, which way does it face? I find with the blade side out, the heel of the handle really grabs my hand. But turned the other way my hand glides past.

Me too. I recently tried my Griptilian without a clip and was surprised to find out I use the clip for finger traction. I wonder how many other knives I do this with.

i recently got custom scales made for my para 3. i got them made without the lanyard hole and without any of the clip holes. so now its a para 3 without a lanyard hole or belt clip, just a plain old knife.

very clean look. its my favorite knife now!

I always remove the clips. I carry these knives in my right front pocket.

One small Al Mar I do keep clipped. It’s tiny, with a 1.25” blade. I carry it clipped to the outside of my winter jackets. Like to a pocket flap, or the bottom hem.

I¨usually carry IWB, so the clip is required. If you blouse your shirt a little bit, of carry untucked t-shirts, plus the pocket clip being behind the belt, the knife doesn't stand out.
