N2S has a good thought if you're really only searching for a blade, but perhaps one of the other generous forumites who has a yataghan at hand can send the dimensions you want. They do vary quite a bit in size, but it's the grip that make it so distinctive and the reinforced design at the ricasso.

I think I'll see if I can hunt someone down close to home who has a yataghan. Like a few of you have said, it will help keep me honest in building the model. If I have a HI yataghan produced it will be a plain jane version - no coral or silver work like many I've seen in the past. I've no aspirations of owning a sheiks weapon, nor do I have a sheik's fortune. I'll keep you all posted on what I come up with. Thanks, stevomiller
