Do I need a bench grinder as well as a belt grinder?

do they make soft polishing wheels for a 4.5" angle grinder?

They make 4-5 inch ones that can be mounted in a drill chuck. I use one in my drill press and it works well. If you don't have a drill press, you can mount an electric drill in your vice, or clamp it to a bench and turn it on.

They are about 8-10 bucks.

I saw something somewhere which was a sanding belt cleaning block. I think it said it was made of rubber. Like you run the belt across it & it is suppoed to clean up some of the stuff stuck in the belt to make it cut better.

Is that worth anything or not really?

As an unexperienced person, sitting here thinking about processes, it seems like the bench grinder might be nice to have in a few times, but no one with experience seems to see the value of them, so I'll just use what I have for now. Between being able to cut narrow belts for cutting w/o a patten in place & being able to use my drill press in so many ways & having a dremmel & angle grinder I think I'll pass on the bench grinder.

Thanks guys.

Now I will start another thread about what belts I should stock up on.

By the way the rubber bars eor cleaning up your belts are great. I have one form each of my belt grinders, my disk grinder and one sets by my drill press for when I use inflatable drums. They are espesially good when you are doing your scales, wood, Mycarta, ivory etc. Get one. Jim
